Brendan Rodgers: New Celtic Manager

i really hope he buys wee joe

I'm a bit concerned about us losing the best of our youngsters this summer. Now there's Rodgers at Celtic and McParland at Rangers, both knowing all the kids personally and knowing exactly which ones they can get for a pittance. And then there's Rafa at Newcastle. And Borrell is moving up the hierarchy at City this summer. All of them knowing the offer of more playing time might turn their heads. McParland's already got Rossiter, and he's just enquired about Canos, as will, I'm sure. Rodgers and Benitez. And, true to form, Ayre has absolutely cocked up most of the contract talks for these kids, most of them can walk off without us getting much, if anything. We need to wake up, pronto.

That's about his level.

Predictable shite. About as predictable as that other wanker and his dead funny used-to-death "character" joke.

Good look to the guy, he's a good manager and he came closer than anyone it the last 26 years to winning the title for us, which is why he probably deserves a bit more respect than what some of the dickheads on here give him. He'll do well and get a big move from it.

"About his level" - fuck off.

Maybe you should look at what type of manager he is. Can he sort out a defense? The answer is no, not even if his job depended on it. He is a very average manager when it comes down to tactics. He can make his team play one way and have never shown that he have a plan B. It is 100% attack, who cares about defending. That is the only tactic he can get his team to play.

He can make attacking players better but at the same time the defending players get much worse.

Can he build up a good squad? The answer is no. Not a single one of his own signings have been a success. Not a single one.

I would say that he is a very average manager.

I think that he will be sacked before the end of his 12 month contract.

Rangers is now IMO clear favourites to win the league. He will be found out in the scottish league. His teams have big problems against physical playing teams.

"Not a single one"? Fuck off Arn, you trolling twat. Coming from the same idiot who repeatedly tells us that our manager can never be wrong about anything and unless we're 100% behind him then we're not real fans. An average manager who hasn't had one successful signing, are you for real?

Maybe he should have gone for the Newcastle job eh, maybe they wouldn't have got relegated.

He probably would of done as his Achilles heel was setting up a team to defend.. Rafa despite getting them relegated, at least got them to defend..

Name one then. One of his OWN signings. Sturridge wasn't his signing by the way if you believe the media.

Yes he was, if you actually read the reports instead of believing some of this shite that's been written on here. He wanted him on loan initially so he could see what his attitude was like before spending on him. He wanted a loan and to then be able to spend the money on another forward, so we were bringing in two.

Sturridge, Clyne, Lallana, Coutinho, Can, Lovren, Toure, Firmino, Origi & Sakho have all been successes to varying degrees.

Haha.. and what a lot of good that did. They defended their way to relegation, brilliant! You just can't make this selective, laughable shite up.

in Rafas defence.. 9 games to save them from relegation, he was never going to get them out of it.. No manager would have...

if he had came in earlier, he most certainly would have

Wow just wow, defending the "nearly" guy and trashing the won who won us the CL.

I play for a team with Celts in the name and loads of the players are hard core Celtic fans and every single one is delighted to get him.

He'll win a couple of titles and bomb out of Europe.

He has never gotten a team to defend as a unit and has very obvious flaws in his set up.

But I wish him well, he gave us one hell of a ride!

He has one significant advantage in that his name isn't Ronny Deila. Why the dickens they appointed him in the first place, goodness only knows.

I am not a huge fan of Brendan's transfer record. But for all his flaws if the club had listened to him - we would have had Bertrand and Delle Alli. A solid left back and a potentially world class talent. And we wouldnt have nightmares over the abomination of the performance which Moreno put up in the Europa league final as Bertrand is infinitely better than him defensively.

By the way from Suarez

“He is one of the best coaches in Europe and I am not surprised he is looking to get back in to the game because it is a game he loves," Suarez told the Liverpool Echo.
“I am glad he has taken his time since leaving Liverpool. He should only be looking at the top jobs, with the top clubs, who will be playing Champions League football.
If it was not for Brendan, then I know I would not be the same player that you see at Barcelona today."

I am confident that Suarez would have been a high level player irrespective of Brendan or whomever was managing us and I am sure he knows it. But atleast he has the class to acknowledge Brendan's role however minor that maybe. For a person who posts we need to get Suarez back in every thread, take a leaf out of his book.

I am not a huge fan of Brendan personally but I dont see the need for taking potshots continuosly at our past managers once they have left. He tried his best and it did not work out. That is fine. He still loves our club and there is nothing more he would have liked than deliver the league for us. He couldnt, but it was not due to lack of effort.

This place is fucking ruined.
Lucas and Rafa being dragged into every fucking thread.
It's becoming unbearable to log in anymore.
The ignore function works pretty well. I have a few on ignore and it makes the place a lot more pleasant. Sadly you can't ignore mods though.

Yeah, the job was a bit big for him even though he is a promising manager.
Won the league in both the seasons he was there but is seen as a failure.
Thats what Rodgers has to deal with aswell, achieving CL success.

Just read that their CL route begins with a second qualifying round. They got knocked out in the play off round both in 14/15 and 15/16. If he can get them into the group stages, he'll be an instant hero.
