Brazil have selected eight Premier League players for October's World Cup qualifiers despite the country remaining on the UK's travel red list.

Last month most English clubs refused to release players called up by South American countries. Currently anyone travelling to Brazil from the UK must quarantine for 14 days when they arrive in the country and 10 days when they arrive back in the UK. But the Brazil FA said "positive talks" have been held over travel exemptions.

Liverpool duo Alisson and Fabinho, Manchester City's Ederson and Gabriel Jesus, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva, Manchester United midfielder Fred, Leeds forward Raphinha and Tottenham defender Emerson Royal have all been called up for matches against Venezuela, Colombia and Uruguay.

Former Middlesbrough midfielder Juninho Paulista, the Brazil national team coordinator, said the eight England-based players had been called up with the belief an agreement would be made next week allowing players to avoid travel restrictions.

"We've had lots of positive meetings with Fifa, the Premier League and the British government, and we trust that there will be a positive solution next week," he said. "That is why we have called them up."
The Brazilian football federation will have to reach a separate agreement with the country's health authority to exempt England-based players from quarantine on their arrival.

Liverpool are set to travel to Watford on 16 October without Alisson and Fabinho, as Brazil host Uruguay on 15 October.

Klopp added: "I know it's a Liverpool problem and nobody else's problem, and good for Watford.
"But I just don't know how you can do these kind of things where nobody reacts on the schedule. We have two problems. One is the schedule, it was always a problem. "TV and other guys, the Premier League, say, 'OK, that's how it is, they have to play, let's have a look how they can sort that'. "Another thing, it's not good for the players or the clubs as well and I hope the government comes up with some kind of solution."

There was some talk that the players would be released back to their clubs before the final game.

They’ll only go if the quarantine issues are resolved. If not they’ll get a break.

Yeah the 5 days penalty would mean missing Watford anyway (16th) but possibly better than the alternative. Although they'd also have to miss Atletico Madrid (A) on the 20th. Clear for United on the 24th.

Fully vaccinated players will be able to travel for international duty in red-list countries this month, the PA news agency understands.
A bespoke quarantine exemption has been agreed between the Premier League, the UK Government and the health authorities which will enable players to travel and then play for their clubs on their return.
The UK Government has yet to confirm the plans but it has been agreed after assurances were given that players would be in Covid-secure 'bubbles' with their national teams and on return to their clubs.
Arrivals from red-list countries, even those who are double vaccinated, are usually required to quarantine for 10 days in a government-approved hotel.
Brazil has already issued call-ups to eight Premier League players, while the president of the Mexican federation, Yon De Luisa, told PA it had called up Wolves striker Raul Jimenez.
The Covid security measures around red-list players are in addition to existing emergency protocols being operated by Premier League clubs.
Premier League and EFL clubs collectively refused to release players for international duty in red-list countries for the September international break.
It initially appeared that this stance would lead to players being barred from representing their clubs in the five days after the end of the break, after a request was made by four national associations - including Brazil's - to FIFA to impose an automatic restriction.
However, the request was dropped after what FIFA described as "positive signals and constructive dialogue" with the British Government.
Since then, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at a United Nations gathering in New York, where the pair discussed, among other things, "the ongoing co-operation established to support travel during international windows and partnership to ensure equal opportunities for all".
Under the new agreement, players would train and play while fulfilling their mandatory 10-day quarantine, and will self-isolate aside from when they are carrying out their professional duties.

Being able to train and play when they return from a red list country only applies to players fully vaccinated.

Its been widely reported that 13 of the 20 premier league clubs have squads with less than 50 per cent of the players fully vaccinated.

Sky are reporting Wolves have said that all of their players are fully vaccinated.
Brentford and Leeds have more than 90 per cent of their players vaccinated.
No other clubs are releasing details.

I think they still have to isolate in a hotel but are allowed out to train and to play games.
I am sure that must be very appealing for all the players involved, being away from their family for an extra ten days.
Well, it might actually be appealing to some.

Yea they still have to do the 10 day quarantine, but can train and play - but only if fully vaccinated. And we don't know which of our players are.

Watch Ali, Mané and Firm all come off with knocks in the 93rd minute against City.

It’s a bit late for us seeing the international break is next week. Good news for the following break.

[article]Fully vaccinated arrivals from countries including Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico and South Africa will no longer have to quarantine in a government-designated hotel for 10 days when they get to England from later in October, the newspaper said.

In the pre-match Klopp said 99% of the club are fully vaccinated.

Ugh Jon, Jon, Jon. Beat me to it.

Only seven countries - Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru and Venezuela - will remain on the red list.

Players such as Liverpool's Sadio Mane, Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez, Tottenham pair Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso, and Manchester United's Edinson Cavani may now not have to self-isolate for 10 days on their return to the UK.

But Brazilian players Ederson, Allison, Fabinho, Gabriel Jesus, Raphinha, Emerson Royal, Thiago Silva, Fred and Douglas Luiz, and Colombia's Yerry Mina and Davison Sanchez will still have to quarantine as Colombia host Brazil in a World Cup qualifier on October 10.

The government announced this week that double-jabbed players returning from red-list countries will be able to complete their 10 days at 'bespoke quarantine facilities' and be allowed to leave once a day to train or play.

Despite the boost for Premier League clubs, many South American players may still miss the first weekend of games after the international break on October 16, as a round of World Cup Qualifiers is fixed for October 14.

Why did the PL allow scheduling of our game for the Sat morning knowing the internationals don’t finish till thursday night before?
Seems rather stupid since they enforce all UEFA Europa leagues who play on thursday to play sunday for obvious reasons.

It’s probably in the tv contract.

I read somewhere lasr week, we were trying to get it changed to sat evening but Watford wouldn’t agree due to less than 2 weeks notice for travel plans etc. This is a home game for them anyway.

Its insane that they could arrange an International game 1,5 days before a league game.
