Dunno what you think but I feel that there is only one of the three relegated teams likely to 'bounce back' and they're not from the North-East.

West Brom are reasonably well managed and finacially have built for exactly this. They play decent enough football and have the opportunity to build on this season. They are currently better suited to the Championship than the Premiership.

Newcastle are bloated with aging, under performing 'stars' who are unlikely to shine in the Championship. 'Boro are just too young and soft.

I read over the weekend that Mowbray has been told to cut the wage bill in half at West Brom, that makes it a lot more difficult for them.

Newcastle - If ever there was a club likely to do a Leeds, this is it.

Boro - Not too sure, if they sell Alves and get a couple of decent players in they may do okay.

On MotD:

Newcastle have 15 players on 50k+ with no relegation clause

Boro are apparently 50 million in debt, If they don't get up again in the first year they could also do a Leeds

West brom should win the championship at a canter.

Bring in a half decent centre forward and it's there's.

There's no team capable of challenging them for the title bar possibly the Blades dependent on their result against Burnley.

TBH that would be suicidal - surely the parachute payments should kick in for such a tight and, lets face it, cheap squad.

Yeah but they've got their wage bill under control and have players that other clubs will buy, unlike Newcastle.

Depends on how Reading do without Coppell.

True, but with Downing injured they are going to have to sell a lot of their players, as the other will be worth nowhere near as much. They were really relying on him to give them some working capital.

That is idiotic managment.

Like ordering millions of England football shirts only and then realising nobody wants them and having to sell them on for a five quid.

Newcastle will need to offload most of those players in any way they can get ride of them.

So who of these big earners do think deserves to stay in the EPL?

Why? It is reasonable to assume that it is just an automatic reversion on players contracts to the level they were at before coming up.
What's this relegation clause? Their wages don't drop?
Pretty much, most clubs will add a clause that if relegated, the player will drop between 10% and 25% of their wage, same if they're promoted so swings boths ways.

Should be a precautionary measure for any mid table club.

But obviously with Newcastle being such a 'BIG' and ill managed club they kinda forgot.
Why ?

Nobody gets an automtaci pay rise because of promotion.

No they don't, but they do sign contracts in the championship with a clause for promotion which would see a pay increase. Also a fair amount of promoted teams re-negotiate contracts when they get into the prem so the club doesn't get pilfered in the January window (and as a kind of reward as well).

I can see Newcastle being in the mix for a play off place but that's about it. I have a feeling Leicester will complete consecutive promotions.

They are back in the Championship from League 1.

But out of the two North-East clubs,I feel Boro have a better chance. Newcastle will go through a real revamp. I just understand how their wage bill is the 5th highest in the Premier league this year.!! Amazing!!Well, good luck Newcastle

They won League One or whatever the hell it's called, so yes, they'll be in the championship next season. Young Peggy was born in Leicester and when we lived there, I went to a few of their games (my fondest memory being Fowler's hat-trick) so I've still got a bit of a soft spot for them. When we first moved there in 1998, we stayed in the Stakis Hotel until our house was ready. We moved there on the Friday and we were playing at Filbert Street on the Saturday. Anyway, the team was also staying at the Stakis that night so we got loads of nice photographs of our oldest daughter (18 months at the time) with various players and staff. She filled her nappy while having her photograph taken with Sammy Lee and he proudly announced: "hey lads, shit for luck." We lost 2-0 as I recall.

In the earlier part of our glory days Leicester City were our bogey side for some unfathomable reason (we didn't really have one later on). We supporters used to dread getting drawn against them in the Cups back then. I've been there a few times over the decades and mostly enjoyed my visits - the Leicester fans I've met at their ground have generally been OK people. Hope they do well.

Thats why I hate them Thats why I hate them Thats why I hate them.

My first ever game was a loss to them.

Ashley won't walk away, he's got to get then back at the first attempt. And at least if shearer does want to get into management, its not in the media spot light.

Who knows what they're on, but owen and viduka are gone. Martins will probably leave, the others might stick around.

I think they're the better placed to come back up, and i hope we do it with out that fat grinning cunt. They'll at least be able to bring in some decent defenders. Spunkaccini offer to be accidently poisoned or given septic flu.

Boro still haven't paid for alves yet, all the other debt, and no supporters. They're fucked.

Rabble, that's a ludicrous suggestion. Yes, they were shite this season, but they wont go down again FFS.

They'll be in the mix for a playoff / automatic spot.

If I was Ashley, I would bring in a steady eddy manager to re-build.

If Houllier was up for it, he would be fantastic for them.
