Roberto Firmino hasn’t played for Brazil since last July and club staff believe that time off in the international breaks has helped him to reassert himself at Anfield. He has already surpassed his total goal tally for last season.

With 11 goals and four assists in total, Roberto Firmino is averaging a goal involvement every 111 minutes in all competitions this season. That figure stood at 187 minutes for 2020-21, 157 minutes for 2019-20 and 142 minutes for 2018-19.

His most prolific season for Liverpool was 2017-18 when he ended up with 27 goals and 17 assists – a goal involvement every 95 minutes.

Took him a while.

Go Bobby!

He still doesn't look to have that creative ability back to run the show from between the lines, but lovely to see him coming into a bit of form.

Its the perfect time to find a bit of form

Thought (goals aside) he looked very average last night

Almost all of his goals are tap-ins these days – someone needs to score those too, but they are the easiest. What concerns me is that I can't remember the last time Bobby threaded a pass to someone. That used to be his biggest creative weapon; now all of those are getting intercepted.

Doesnt seem to have much confidence in his own finishing ability.
Was very surprised he didnt try to lob the Benfica GK when he was outside the penalty area.

I wouldn't quite say he's back because that - to me at least - would suggest that we are able to rely on him in the way we used to, which we clearly can't.

The fact that we're seeing a positive contribution from him (goals especially) as a squad player is really positive for the run in though.

Diaz was livid with one of his passes last night. The right ball and Diaz would have had an open net.

It's great to see him back on the scoresheet but in reality he's been in decline for some time despite what some people will try and tell you. He's no longer first choice and deservedly so, but he's still a very valuable squad member especially with Origi having 1 foot out the door.

His assists have fallen off, he's got about 4 this year
