I think they will definitely have a tough time replacing Lukaku's goals. Their whole team was set up for him, and while they will need someone new to take a big chunk out of his tally, they will also need to completely overhaul how they've been playing for the last three or four years. If you took Lukaku out of the equation last season, their next top goalscorer had something like 4. Add in the increasing possibility that they will lose Barkley, then that's two talented young players off their books. Everyone is getting swept up and away by the business they're doing just because they're adding numbers. I'm not sure they're adding sufficient quality. Also, as Redhorizon2 says, too many players coming in makes it difficult. This reminds me of when we sold Suarez and brought in a load of shite that didn't actually improve the team and just bloated out the squad.

The quality is perfectly sufficient for a club like Everton. In fact , I'd argue they are overreaching, I've seen enough videos of cats over reaching to know what happens next.

I agree people are getting caught up in the numbers. They haven't signed anybody top class. £100m spent for not much improvement.

Koeman always gives me the impression he knows he's working at a place where the fans are downright mad. Hopefully he'll be off soon to somewhere saner and better. I think he's made some decent signings, but more to strengthen and stabilise their current status in the league rather than push on to the next level.

The great thing about this is that they are getting super excited about it all when in reality they have lost the player who was keeping them from being a team that should be hovering around relegation.

Coleman is a huge loss too and it'll be interesting to see how he plays post rehab.

They have a lot of good (Barkley, Davies, Barry) and some very good (Schneiderlin) CMs but lack anything potent further forward. Bolasie will be hit and miss on counter attacks but now has no one to support him on those.

We should keep Lucas for the Everton games alone. Better they kick the shit out of him than Salah or Mane.

They're stay wayyyy short on goals, considering how many goals Lukaku got the last few seasons to reach where they have in the league. I can't see shrek and sandro scoring half of what he did. They're meant to be looking at more strikers though.
