Why on God's earth will we need to play a 4-2-3-1 against attack-minded and wholly limited Blackpool?

Take the shackles off, Roy, and make some early changes if we're not battering them by 60 minutes.

And don't play Meireles right wing you daft twat.

In all likelihood we'll draw this game having played a defensive 4-2-3-1 and Roy's comments will be along the lines of "we deserved our point/they are no easy games/I'm happy with that, it's all I expected etc".

We couldn't kill a Sunday pub side on the counter-attack at the moment. That would require a speed of thought and body wholly lacking in our current side.

I fully expect Blackpool to dominate possession for large parts of the game, to create chances and to score goals against us. Hopefully we'll scrape a win because they're very open at the back and we've got Gerrard and Torres, but I wouldn't bet money on it.

You just know that we'll struggle, play our usual shite first half and have a 0-0 at HT. Then more pressure and nerves in the 2nd, and we all be biting our nails while watching a horrible show of football being played for the last 45 mins and ending in a 1-1 draw.

Optimistic? Not very.

Roy out? I'm starting to think so.

We've forgotten how to counterattack. We get about half-way towards the opposition goal and then get scared, slow everything down, and pass it back to the defenders.

FFS I can understand the pessimism around at the moment, but this thread really takes the biscuit. Its Blackpool we are playing at home and everyone is predicting a defeat!

If I were picking the team, I'd change it round completely: a 4213, with Joe Cole in the main creative role behind the front three, and tell Magic to get forward at every opportunity to provide some width:

We've been shit, Budgie's a fucking mediocre manager, Poulsen has been a useless cunt, ditto his Cunt Twin, but I think someone is going to get a snotting sooner or later.
