Can't believe how my sense of the world has completely and utterly changed in the past 10 or so weeks. My view of life as a Canadian, what our country should be doing or stand for, my view on freedom, democracy, and the response to climate change.... all completely torpedoed by Big Orange.
I was not thrilled that he won the election but equally was not hysterical about it. Figured he'd provide for another 4 years of buffoonery that slightly stretched the Overton window down south. The real question to me was about whether reality would return in his wake or what the next generation of MAGA fanatics might look like. But I'm increasingly concerned of a radical change in the world order.
I'd like to say I'd consider moving even closer to the North Pole to get away from this mess but I'm dangerously close to Greenland as it is.
I've been thinking about this for a while generally and more so since your post.
The world order has broken down & I don't think it's just the orange buffoons fault.
Covid really kicked it off. Everyone lockdown while political parties had parties and went for a curry and visited heritage sites 2
400 miles away.
They barely managed an apology for that and just buried the fact they lost tens of millions or gave it to their mates.
Meanwhile Joe Blogg wasn't able to see his elderly father or go her grannies funeral.
The utter bizarro way American commentators have treated Trump and Elon has continued to show the double standards. Though, I've begun to see the cracks appear in this.
From freedom of speech to the chucking everyone in El Salvador mad prisons.
Picking journalists for questions so they don't get scrutiny and subterfuge and what abouts when talking Elon.
The trashing of ICC and ICJ will no doubt lead to worse and worse atrocities against populations you can get away with.
It's all utterly utterly depressing but moving to the North Pole would likely send me over the top.
my raynaulds would be permanent and I'd have no fingers or toes by the end of the week.
