Big D vs Twitter

Because Kamala is a disappointing candidate and is coming across as such. I have friends over there who will vote for her but will be holding their noses while they do so. She's getting their vote only for fear of Ginger Nuts getting in otherwise.
I think she has been very impressive TBH. Don’t know anyone who finds her disappointing.

I think she may be an average campaigner but she’s getting better and she could be a better president. I mean if that clown can be president any one of us can really (truly)

The sense I am getting (and I may be foolish here) is that he’s going to lose badly. A tight loss and he’ll start his Jose Mouriniho style moaning

The voter ID laws are problematic because there’s a history in some states of the local
Government making it really hard to vote.

As someone who became a citizen I can tell you this super hard to get the right to vote and cases of people voting without the earned right are super unusual in a country of 330M

It’s just another canard

Iowa Poll came out this weekend. Trump behind in Iowa allegedly. Not even a battleground state. He’s got voter enthusiasm problems.

Fair enough, and you live over there so you have the advantage of me. My friends though are born and bred US citizens and highly educated professional people younger than me (well, who isn't?) and they've been disappointed in her. She strikes them as showy and surprisingly lightweight given her background, and they're not convinced she'll be up to the task if she gets in. They were/are big Obama fans and reckon she's not even close to his level. I guess politics is as dependent on opinions as football is.

Obama was a once in a generation type
She's no Obama.
But she is compared to yer man.

I think there is a sexist stereotype for sure though. She's got flaws foh shure.

What is impressive is her CV - she's worked in every dept you'd want a president to work in : legal as Attorney General, legislative, worked in the senate and as VP.

Versus a TV show bully, racist, misogynist and inveterate liar with multiple felony convictions, and many more pending, who tried insurrection to stay in the White House.

Half the American voting populace are simply brain dead to even consider the orange headed toad.

There's a silver lining in all this for those of us with no dog in the fight.

Anyone who vehemently supports either side can safely and quickly be ruled out as a fucking moron not worthy of wasting time on.

This country is far less educated and far less evolved than the rest of us all thought. It took this humiliating orange stain on the underpants of humanity to show us that, eight years ago. But he's not the problem... He just gives a face and voice to the problem.

The problem is that half this country (mostly in the rural areas) are very racist, very misogynistic and are the very people that we used to see every week on Cops. We thought that they were the funny, unwashed minority. Turns out they're actually the terrifying, willfully uneducated, right wing nutcases that make up half the country.

So, what all the chatter about shipping illegals to swing states to get them to vote etc.

Is that not real?
Seems to be a big talking point from a few Trump supporters
How can you be illegal and register to vote?

Trump lies. 99% of his followers believe him, because they choose ignorance in this age of information.

There is no widespread voter fraud. There never was. There was no steal. There is only a Hitler-starter kit appealing to those who feel like they are owed something and resent anybody who isn't them.

How can you be illegal and register to vote?
You can't, but there are always a few who squeak through, using forged IDs (like my kids use to get into bars in their college towns).

It happens, because there are 380 odd million people in this country, but it's not 'widespread' by any reasonable standard.

Not disagreeing, but what exactly did he fuck up the first time?
You could start with the calamity and murderous handling of Covid, continue on through Roe vs Wade (by managing the election of supreme court judges), he created a hugely divisive USA, massive debt, denied climate change and continued on a policy of damaging protected land, supported white suprematists, etc. etc.

The American people are truly fucked up in re-electing this narcissistic fascist.

I think he, and his supporters would consider abortion laws as a success, rather than fucked up?
In terms of division, I think that works from both sides tbh.

Massive debt, that's been climbing regardless of who is president.

I don't think he fucked it up, he's been moderately successful, I just don't like what he has done and wants to do.

Largely agree. Would add that Presidents from both parties have taken the opportunity to stack the Supreme Court in their favour when such opportunities have presented themselves over the years.

Which says all you need to know about him and his supporters. Whilst the world has moved to let women decide what to do with their own bodies 'Trumpism' and the 'rise' of extreme Christianity has moved to control and punish. Moving back to the Middle Ages.

Agreed. I think Harris made a mistake focusing on it too much, because of that. Miscalculation on the issues that would get votes. Her and Bidens treatment on Israel/Palestine is probably the other big mistake they made.

Yes, it seems that the economy and personal biases and financial gain over-rides morals, which to be fair, it does everywhere. That's just the nature of human beings. Despicable creatures that we are.

BTW I think the world is beyond fucked now - I thought Harris would have brought some measure of common-sense, especially regarding NATO, UN, Climate Change and Ukraine but I fear what is going to happen in the next 4 years could be irreversible damage to the world's geopolitical scene.

This is a good point re UN and NATO.
Trump last time was very critical of UN and threatened to drastically reduce the funds if not more.
Let's see what he is able to push through now.

Re Ukraine, it'll likely be some kind of push towards agreeing whatver 'peace plan' is on the table meaning losing some territory.

With Brics gaining support let's see where we end up.
