'course you can, Malcom!

I meant to watch the game but not realizing it was on tonight I only caught the last ten minutes.
But the highlights are enough to have me climbing aboard the bandwagon.
Where is @Oncy and his tent when you need him?

First 28 minutes or so were a yawn - poor quality football from both teams and Dolberg nary got a touch of the ball. Then Ziyech's free kick went in with the merest of touches from Traore, and I went to bed thinking it'll be more of the same with the odd shot attempt from each side. Damn.

Utd getting Mbappe would surely spell the end of Martial, right?

I wonder if we ever considered getting involved in the Mbappe deal.

Like would a 65m plus 50% of a future sale be a workable deal?

I guess if they can get 100 up front probably not.

Given that Ibrahimavic is 35 with a long term injury and Rooney is a completely spent force I would think Martial will probably be retained

Going off the limited info i have i still feel confident enough to say my top 5 would be:

MBappe
Dembele
Dolberg
Schick
Simeone

With an honourable mention to Iheanacho - who looks like he's got a lot of goals in his future.

I think Iheanacho would be an excellent buy for any premiership team - he doesn't seem to need many minutes at all to get into his rhythm. He just comes in when needed and gets on the scoresheet. I haven't seen an awful lot of him to know what he has to his game, but he has that instinct that can't be taught.

Yeah, Iheanacho looks a great prospect. Several of his goals have been the sign of a poacher aswell. Just being at the right place at the right time. Some great instincts there.

Some players on these lists arent strikers mind. Dembele, Malcolm, Santi Mina and Gnabry.

Dembele would be my pick for a young starlet this summer, he's class.

Yeah the question is does he flourish with more playing time or does it expose his limitations.

City have a wealth of young strikers and he might be down the list for them - if he was available we should be trying to get him.

What do you see that makes you think that?

I've not seen a great deal of him but my impression is that he doesn't have enough to his all round game.

He's clearly got goals in him but in terms of his touch and ability to contribute to the build up play, I'm not so sure.

I suppose it can be argued that we could do worse than to get someone whose primary talent is finishing off moves but then we never seem to integrate 'specialists' particularly well.

Mbappe reminds me of Thierry Henry and Dele Alli at the same time. Perhaps some Cristiano Ronaldo in the mix as well. Overall looks pretty Golden.

He seems to start from further back than the more specialized strikers and would perhaps thrive more on the wing in a 4-3-3 than the striker position itself?

Can anyone who's seen him play regularly in Ligue1 shed some light on his preferred position etc? And also where you'd see him in our setup.

There isn't a hope in hell we're signing Mbappe guys. Zero. Real Madrid or ManU, or City will swoop in with 100m. We'll be in a bum fight with the likes of Atletico and Roma for Dolberg, if we're lucky.

I don't see him ever being in our set up.

I don't think we stand a chance either, was just curious to know more about him is all.

I mean we prob have to accomodate both him, Dolberg, Mane and Coutinho in our line-up.

Is Dolberg actually an option, or have we just decided as a forum that given he's not quite as good as Mbappe, but better than current crop that he would come to us?

I think that's on the assumption that all Scandos are Liverpool fans.

Unfortunately, I saw something the other day where he said he liked Barca and the English team he liked was Arsenal. He's a canny wee bastard though as he immediately backtracked and said he didn't support them as such. He certainly seems to be chatting away with his agent right now.

I've watched him (Dolberg) a few times recently and I really like the way he combines with the general play before sneaking back into dangerous positions. He lays the ball off well with his good first touch (sometimes is overly fancy) but he could do with a bit more aggression to try to impact positively on long or loose balls.

Suarez was immense at holding the ball up and even though he had no right competing against 6 '3 centrebacks in the air he made them work and often forced mistakes.

Dolberg looks like he has the ability... but has he had it too easy in the Dutch league? In Holland players are quite often rewarded by simply avoiding challenging the centrebacks, instead retreating into space & allowing the inevitable fuck up and easy 1x1.

Ah hmmm... Brewster

Academy striker Rhian Brewster hit a first-half brace as England U17s got their European Championship campaign off to a winning start against Norway on Thursday.
The Young Lions went behind eight minutes in when Chelsea prospect Marc Guehi inadvertently turned a wicked corner delivery into his own net.
But just two further minutes had elapsed by the time Brewster found space in the Norwegian box to sidefoot Jadon Sancho's unselfish pull-back home and level the scores up.
The 17-year-old then doubled his and his country's tally just past the half-hour mark, firing in an emphatic left-footed finish from another Sancho pass.
Phil Foden made the game safe late in the second half as Steve Cooper's side kicked off their bid for glory in Croatia with a 3-1 victory.

He's got my attention.
