Best young strikers around ....

As an offshoot of the Origi discussion ... i was thinking about where i would rank him in strikers of his age group and younger. It helps to get some perspective. I'm deliberately leaving out the likes of Kane, Lukaku, Dybala etc who are a year older.

So at Premier League clubs some of his peers are:
Rashford
Iheanacho
Gabriel Jesus
Enes Unal
Martial

Elsewhere in Europe:
Dolberg - Ajax
Dembele - Celtic
Simeone - Genoa
Sanabria - Betis
Embolo - Schalke
Silva - Porto
Mbappe - Monaco
Santa Mina - Valencia
Gabigol - Inter

Who else should be on the list ?
And out of the list who is your top 5 ?

Not really sure how many (any ?) of us can give a Top 5 when the vast majority (all ?) of us haven't even heard of, never mind seen, half of those players. Young strikers generally get less game time and less media exposure anyway since most develop at lower level clubs. Going by the hype and highlights Mbappe is miles ahead of the rest.

As far as those listed at PL clubs. Jesus seems absolutely nailed on to be massive, he's got it all (bar height, but that didn't stop him scoring a cracking header vs. Middlesbro) and I love watching him play.

I've already given the stats for Rashford, Martial etc. and they aren't even close to the goals per minute of Origi so we can't rate them on goalscoring feats. Rashford looks like he's going to be an excellent player though. Martial could go the way of Januzaj. Pressure in the PL is immense and young players definitely get less opportunities than in say NL or FRA.

I wonder how Woodburn is going to pan out, I'd love to see us bring him on and become something special.

I think Jesus has looked the most potent of the current crop in the Prem. Still early days however.

Mbappe is the most amazing prospect of the lot with Dolberg as runner up.

Werner, Dembele, Silva and Gabigol in the next places. Probably. Don't know half of those mentioned really so I might've overlooked a real star somewhere.

Rhian Brewster's got all the ability to join that list in a season or so, if he listens and learns and keeps pushing himself. If you skip the incredibly irritating first 30 seconds of this compilation, you'll see (a) the lad's got talent and (b) the competitiveness at that level is shite, so he'll need better opportunities, but he's got more to his game than Rashford.

Dembele - Celtic
Is he any good? I know he's been good for Celtic but that doesn't really say anything.

Celtic could make themselves a fortune every year by buying a mediocre player for buttons then sell him on for a fortune after he tears things up in Scotland.

He's 20, and whilst he scored loads of goals in a mediocre league, he also scored 3 in 6 in the Champions League group stages.

He has scored consistently at every level he's had the opportunity to play.

I love that around 20s into this it looks like there is a miniature referee on the pitch.

Celtic have produced the most players to play go on and have professional careers.

He looks the real deal, loved in a way I haven't seen from Celtic fans since Larson

Defo looks like it but - and tell me if I'm wrong - it looks like he has a really weak shot in general? All his shots - be it those that went in, or wide, looked devoid of power.

You're right from what you've seen in those clips (which I think are mainly from last season), but in fact he's got a much stronger shot than that, and it's improving all the time as he grows and gains more general physical strength. He likes to try a Rushie-style placement rather than a blast, which explains a few of those in the video, but he's developed a broader range since then and can certainly hit one that flies past the keeper.

I think you can see that from this clip of a more recent performance:

His shooting is pretty powerful here, too.

Celtic have always been excellent at picking up serious talent relatively cheaply. In fact, Southampton have taken advantage of good players ripping it up in Scotland. Van Dijk (Celtic), Wanyama (Celtic), and Davis (from Rangers) for instance. Perhaps we should cut out the middle man and buy direct from Celtic.

Forster too.

Buying the players Rodgers buy first? Didn't he get us into this mediocre Squad in the first Place?

Celtic fans also rave about their LB Kieran Tierney - Perhaps may be worth having a look if the Sessengon deal doesn't come off.

They've had an ace scouting system for decades though. If he leaves them to it he'll be fine. They've picked up quality forwards at different stages of their careers for buttons for what seems like forever. Di Canio, Viduka, Larrsen, van Hooijdonk etc. etc.

Tierney looks a fantastic talent, can defend, great going forward and seems to have a fantastic attitude. I would love to buy him this summer even loan him back to Celtic for a year,

Is he playing week in week out for Celtic or is he still trying to claim the position as his own?
I think the Mancs thinks he is going their way

Dolberg has been brilliant for Ajax against Lyon. 1 goal aswell.

Please sign him. He's boss
I meant to watch the game but not realizing it was on tonight I only caught the last ten minutes.
But the highlights are enough to have me climbing aboard the bandwagon.
Where is @Oncy and his tent when you need him?

Though he has that smug, pretty boy, punchable face that usually ends up wearing a Man U shirt

Guardian reporting Utd have a 72m bid turned down for Mbappe (Monaco want 100m reportedly).

Mourinho is such a genius...
