Yeah, but haven't seen him play that much.

You're right though.

Ah ok fair enough. It's still a ridiculously close call, though.

We've been lucky to see some truly amazing players in this league. Even more so of this generation across the world as a whole.

Even if Henry was a fantastic player at his pomp I wouldn't say it's even close. Ronaldo was simply out of this world.

I agree with Oncy - Henry and Drogba would be THE partnership.

Strange that no one's mentioned Sheringham though. Hugely intelligent and effective striker. One of those 'if only he'd gone to Liverpool instead of X...' players.

Ronaldo the best.

Henry the best in Prem history.

^^^

hopefully you're talking about bucky rather than greasy.

I'd also say that, if we were basing it on a single best-ever season, then both Fowler (95-96) and Torres (07-08) would be right up there.

Agree on the Ronaldo bit, but not on Henry.

And sorry but how could anyone put Henry in the same bracket as Ronaldo ? Henry scores most of his goals in a narrow and compact Highbury but isn't as effective in away and especially European games. He was also a serial underachiever on the big stage esp. in internationals. Plus he's only good at the Premiership. La Liga - debatable.

Ronaldo (the Brazilian one), however, was simply unplayable in his pomp, be it league, CL, internationals, or World Cup games.
Any setting, any league, any club, he was simply unplayable.
Easily the best I've ever seen.

Yes, he said Ronaldo is the best.

Henry in the Premiership.
I really dont think certain players should be judged using any kind of personal bias, and Thierry Henry is one of those.
I dont think anything you have said about him there is based in reality.

Heres his goals and assists record for the past decade -
1999 - 26 goals - 11 Assists
2000 - 22 goals - 3 assists
2001 - 32 goals - 7 assists
2002 - 32 goals - 24 assists
2003 - 39 goals - 15 assists
2004 - 30 goals - 17 assists
2005 - 33 goals - 19 assists
2006 - 12 goals - 7 assists (only played 27 games through injury)
2007 - 19 games - 11 assists
2008 - 26 goals - 12 assists
2009 - 4 goals - 3 assists (only played a few games and mostly as sub)

Career - 660 games - 308 goals - 160 assists.

Honours.
League titles - 1996, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2009
Domestic cups - 1997, 2002. 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009
European cups - 2008, 2009

How can you begin to try and undersell that? Seriously?

You also mention internationals as his achilles heel?

Games - 118 goals 51 assists 29

Honours
World cup winner 1998 - Scored 3 goals
European champions 2000 - Scored 3 goals
Confederations cup 2003 - Scored 4 goals

And a few individual player honours:
Uefa team of the tournament 2000
Fifa team of the world cup 2006
Young player of the year 1996
PFA player of the year 2003, 2004
EUROPEAN GOLDEN BOOT 2004, 2005
Premier league golden boot - 2001. 2003, 2004, 2005
PFA team of the year - 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005,
UEFA team of the year - 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006.

He was a phenomenal player and the size of the pitch he played on had nothing to do with it. He belongs besides the Ronaldos and Van Bastens and so on NO DOUBT.

He is also one of the most skillful players ive ever seen and could score just about any goal you pleased. His you tube clips would go on for hours.

I'd love to make a case for Robbie, but Thierry Henry was an absoloute Lord when he was in his pomp. He had everything and he regularly took the piss out of us!
That time he scored four against Leeds at Highbury was brilliant. Shite like Danny Mills was kicking him everytime he went through, but he just carried on and scored anyway.

We're won big jury here, and Oncy just delivered a smackdown of a closing statement.

Ah lads he is hardly pwned for suggestion Ronaldo was better than Henry. The majority would probably agree with that.

Perhaps he was a bit overly dismissive in his case against Henry.

Henry with ease best in prem history.

as far as Ronaldo vs. Henry, Ronaldo at his best was better than Henry at his best but Ronaldo wasn't the same after his knee injury in 1999 so in terms of a player's whole career you could argue it either way.

"Pawned" Lol.

Oncy is spot on here. Also, didn't Henry also score a hat trick in the San Siro when they won 5-1?

I thought about mentioning Cole, but as mentioned; so much of his success was down to his partnership with Yorke..

Maybe the best striker has to be judged by his own abilities?

Yeah, it's bullshit.

Cole is definitely up there.

In terms of technical ability, my favourite in the Pemiership was actually Bergkamp.

Shame he's such a prat.
Bergkamp a prat? Am I getting senile or why do I only remember him being very classy and intelligent? One of my favorite non-LFC players ever.
No he wasn't a prat , he was a nasty, sneaky, spiteful little shit, but a good player

regards

I don't know. I'm not ashamed to say..

That i think the best Striker in Premiership history is Torres. The way he reached his first 50 premiership goals was simply breath-taking.

Most of the time, i had my cock in my hand....

*there i said it..

If we're talking about best seasons, maybe.

Otherwise it's just nonsense.

Ha ha. Jesus how can anyone suggest Henry was better than Fat Ronaldo.

He would have been the undisputed greatest of all time if injuries had not crippled him.

As it is he's still right up there and far far ahead of Henry. Ronaldo produced everywhere he went both at club and country level and still is today.

But this thread is about Prem only and thats a simple shoot out between Henry and Shearer.
