They say size aint everything, but us fans love love picking on players who are by 'football standards' considered 'fatties.'


So, who's the best fatties you've seen play the beautiful game?

Is Andy Reid the fattest player to score a Premier League goal?

There have been many plump footballers over the years, but I cannot remember anyone filling out a Premier League shirt quite as well as ’stocky’ Sunderland player Andy Reid. When Reid scored the Black Cats’ winner against West Ham there were none of the somersault celebrations which followed Kenwyne Jones’ opener (although if you look closely Grant Leadbitter does have a crafty grope of his jangling man boobs).
Clearly it doesn’t affect his ability to find the back of the net, but by Premier League standards Reid is absolutely huge. Have you seen bigger?

i seem to remember some danish player at euro 96 being quite plump. i think his name was tofting.
 
We've had loads of fatties.
Houghton and Whelan were pretty chubby too, and Titi Camara was huge after he left us.

Non-Liverpool players include Le Tissier late on, Paddy Kenny and of course Gazza.

Houghton & Whelan were far from fat from my recollection, at least when they were playing (showing my age now)
 
Neither were massive but both were chubby at times, as I said.

Whelan used to be far from fat but in the early 90s he got a bit big.
