So it seems that he might be on his way out of man utd in the summer, fresh from a scapegoating exercise from Cocknose.

He's not made the most of his time there for many reasons (attitude, confidence, lack of regular games etc) but a cursory glance at his goalscoring stats there suggests he hasn't done that badly when having his chance. Moreover his record (and performances) at Spurs previously was absolutely top class. He's no doubt a quality player with an eye for goal, capable of playing at the point of the attack or tucked in behind the front man. He's never relied on searing pace so would most probably play at his level well into his thirties.

Bought for 30m odd, united will obviously be looking to recoup as much as possible for him, but at 29 (and off the back of another poor season) they'd do well to get 15m for him.

I think he'd be an excellent buy for us as a genuine alternative to (the injury-prone) Torres or a partner for him in attack. I'm sure many would have reservations about his attitude and ability to succeed at a "big club", but given we're out of the Champions league next year and will not be widely expected to challenge for the title, we could be the perfect destination for him to recover his form and confidence.

If they wouldn't sell us Heinze I doubt they would sell us Berbatov, even if we did want him.

I think if we made an offer for him they'd snatch our arm off, which tells you all you need to know about berbatosh

But he's a manc?

And? He's hardly been a chest-thumping Neville type since he's been there, even when he scores.

He'd improve us up front no end and for that reason I'd be happy enough.

Berbatosh? Are you serious?

He's got more attacking talent in his left bollock than Kuyt/N'Gog/Babel put together - and that's our attacking options bar Torres at the moment.

Has there ever been less of a 'Rafa Player' than Berbaflop?

He's a talented player for sure, but he doesn't apply himself and doesn't do the required legwork.

For a similar price Bent would have been the obvious buy.

If they wouldn't sell us their back-up left-back for an inflated fee, then why would they sell us a striker that would improve us?

To stand a chance, we'd have to overpay significantly for a slow, half-arsed striker currently fighting with the likes of Macheda and Owen for a starting berth.

The only way he could improve us in any significant way is by playing up there WITH Torres, for some reason I think they'd link up pretty well.

he's shite.
its funny you should mention those players as berbatosh cost more than all of them put togother and he can't even get into the manu team when rooney is fully fit. he's fucking WANK.

Some strange reactions on here: Berbatov's clearly not shite at all. I'd like to see him play the no10 role for us, but it will never happen under Rafa, and it'd be pointless to buy him as a Torres 'replacement' because he doesn't have any of Torres's most important attributes.

The bad side of this is that United will almost certainly sign Benzema now - a younger, stronger, faster version of Berbatov.

Whats not to like?! Not moody, values team spirit and the collective ahead of the self, always big on end product, proven goal scorer and goal supplier, willing to dig in to the depths of personality reserves when the going gets tough, not too highly paid, definitely not a mercenary.................Oh.

Also, he seems exactly the kind of player that the current manager would get on with - no ego, prepared to be played out of position, non stop worker, willing to obey orders.................Oh.

Also, Man U are fully prepared to sell playesr to us - happy relations between the clubs, mutual respect from the managers, a long history of happily doing deals together..............Oh.

So which part of this were you saying works?

I hope it's not true, but they've been linked with Benzema and Silva today.

Nothing United do would surprise me.

links please 🙂

Would he Fuck.

Bad attitude and demands the ball to feet. Is lazy and doesn't work for the team.

How in God's name do you think he would fit us?

I mean really I thought I was the retard of this site.

We were linked with him when he was still at Leverkusen. I didn't want him then and I don't want him now. He has plenty of talent but the consistency and fighting spirit of a wet paper bag, and at ManUre he's not even been particularly good as a "luxury player". No Thank You.

I don't know if you are taking a hard stance just for the sake of it, but calling him "WANK" is so far from the truth, i'm going to have to just assume you are purposely being a douchebag.

He has got the best touch in Premiership-bar none. He is a sublime footballer, and on his day can be nigh on unplayable. We have suffered in his hands when Hyypia and Carra were such a solid partnership.

Masher could not get in the westham team, i don't see you calling him "WANK". Sometimes, it just does not work out for some players at some clubs. He has still managed to get a respectable goal tally, that speaks volumes about him.

Berbatov's been made a scapegoat by United fans and unfairly so imo.

Ok he hasn't been great and is a lazy git at times but you can't blame it all on one man ffs.
I think he's averaged a goal every 3 games or something, not that bad.

United's problem this season is thier over-reliance on Rooney, without him they look distinctly average.

Masher couldn't get in the W.Ham team because Pardew was, and is, a tosspot of the highest order who got the hump that Masher and Tevez were bought without his say-so. He'd have left Tevez out too if he thought he could.

...which wouldn't be a problem at all if Berbatov were up to the job. All the skill in the world (and Berbatov has plenty) is no use if its owner's going to please himself whether or not to bother using it.
