Liverpool are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Christian Benteke.
The Belgian striker has come in for plenty of criticism for some shoddy performances in recent weeks, leaving many Liverpool fans wondering if he has a future at Anfield.
According to Bleacher Report the answer is no.
Benteke banged in the goals for Aston Villa and moved to Merseyside for a fee in excess of £30m but has not proved his worth at Anfield.
However, the website reports that Benteke does not want to think about his future until the summer, which would appear to rule out a move in this transfer window.
Instead he wants to stay and fight for his place ahead of Euro 2016.

Meanwhile, negotiations over the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Alex Teixeira have reportedly moved in the right direction with Liverpool agreeing personal terms.
Jurgen Klopp's gang have been attempting to seal the deal for much of the last week and had a £24m bid for the Brazilian rejected by the Ukrainians.
However, FutbolUkraine claim that Teixeira, who has scored 26 goals in 25 appearances this season, has agreed personal terms and the only thing holding the transfer back is Shakhtar's determination to receive £38m for their prized asset.

According to L'Equipe, Liverpool are battling for the signature of Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe with Real Madrid.
The 17 year old is apparently very highly rated and in contract negotiations at the moment, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season. Ex-Chelsea midfielder, and current Monaco technical director, Claude Makelele is said to be trying to convince the "wonderkid" that he should commit to the French club but attention from clubs around Europe could make it difficult to tie him down.
Dubbed the "new Anthony Martial" - which just seems plain lazy - Mbappe is a skilful, pacy striker and has already scored a goal in the Europa League in one of his three games for Monaco so far.

I don't see him leaving this month but its looking increasingly difficult to see him having a long term future here. Unless he's going to be a highly paid supersub

We're not a club that can allow highly-paid, expensive players to be on the bench. I think players like him, and hopefully Sakho, Mignolet, Allen, Lucas, Lallana etc to leave in summer, and a bench full of youth players from next season.

I thought he was the complete striker this week.
He doesn't suit the current system, but if Klopp brings in different sorts of players in the summer he might? He's an expensive asset to have on the bench, considering we've got Sturridge, Ings, Origi, Balotelli, Firmino, Teixera(?), on the books that can potentially play up front, and he usually only uses 1 striker.

How do you know this ?

It defies all logic doesnt it. We've got 1 fit striker and are in 4 competitions playing every 3 days.
So he wont be sold in January. He might get sold in the summer though.

This window is probably the best chance of us getting our money back on this transfer.

Clubs are desperate for goals and his style would suit a lot of clubs in the premier league.....

It depends on if we sign someone else more suitable, and need to sell to buy. I doubt it will happen with only a week left in the window though.

I suspect Klopp will give him more time in order for Benteke to have the opportunity to adapt his own game and adjust to the demands of the role of striker in a Klopp side. That would be the most sensible thing to do, unless we know we can get silly money for him and need to sell to buy.

I think benteke will also be concerned and thinking about leaving though. If he's not playing regular that could affect his chances for the euro's in the summer. If we get Tex then i'd sell him while clubs are desperate.

The problem when it comes to us selling players like Benteke is that they're so obviously ill-suited to our team everyone knows we just want rid and that surely makes it more difficult to get a good fee.

I'd be disappointed if he went for anything less than 25M.

Yes, he was again prominent in the penalty box mayhem that resulted in Banana's winner against Norwich. Unfortunately, he always seems to be more often our plan B when we're desperate for something and are playing like Wimbledon in the final minutes, rather than part of the dynamic, fast-paced football that we are trying to play. The thing is, despite being big, he isn't slow, so I don't understand why he can't adapt to new patterns of play.

I think we can probably afford a couple of them. But not when our team is crying out for reinforcements all over

Despite some lackluster performances, Benteke is our most productive player, witj 7 goals and 6 assists

That may be so but really, based on past performances Benteke must be the 4th (or 5th if you count Firmino) choice striker. If Sturridge, Ings and Origi were fit he might not even make the bench. He simply has to go.

Good Ridance

Harsh.

He's a good player and his attitude has been ok despite everything. He might be the wrong player for us but we don't have a God given right to slam someone who doesn't work out, because we were stupid enough to spend big money on him and try to force him to fit a system he's not accustomed to.

I'd think other clubs fans were wankers if they carried on the way our lot do sometimes.

What I don't get is why he can't adopt to Klopps way of play? He has pace and strength and demonstrated those skill sets at villa. He just needs to focus and concentrate.

He has the pace and movement of hyypia and his alleged strength isn't that impressive.

I don't think his pace is that bad (he's not Hyppia slow for starters, that's an exaggeration), but he's not particularly "fast" or agile.

Klopp (and Rodgers for that matter) seem to have systems where the attack interchange with fluidity and movement. Ideally with goals AND creativity among the three or four players. Benteke seems to slow that down a touch at times. He's a great finisher inside the box, but his approach play isn't quite as subtle and intelligent as we'd ideally like. He's slow to react to alot of build up play and he doesn't make the runs that the likes of Sturridge would make (sorry to paraphrase that Welsh Muppet).

That's a great question. I haven't followed Benteke week in and week out, so I didn't quite know what to expect with him being able to adapt first to Rodgers' game and then to Klopp's – I wasn't too hopeful, based on what I've seen, but I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I still kind of do, but the doubts are starting to seriously outweigh the benefits...

I don't think pace alone is the issue, Benteke is not any slower than Lewandowski, for example. I suspect it has to do with a different aspect: a number of sprints per game. I don't know where to find these stats (@King Binny, can you help?), but I suspect he is way down in that category compared to any other LFC striker, including Firmino. It's very hard to incorporate a static player into a playing style that's based on quick movement off the ball. And the problem is, by making him run more it takes him out of his comfort zone, which is the worst thing you could do to an instinctive scorer. So now he is even missing the chances he would normally bury. This is exactly what doomed Balotelli's Liverpool career; Benteke has a few months to find his way out of this vicious cycle.
