Pelligrini to be Sacked within 48 hours..
Vieira to become Caretaker Boss until the end of the Season..

Benitez is his replacement next season..

The owners are coming across like schizophrenics. They boot out Mancini supposedly because they wanted to have a team that won 'in the right style,' and they poured an absolute fortune into the academy because they wanted a team of home grown talents, and now they're booting out Pellegrini for a manager who'll probably make them less attractive than Mancini's team, and who'll say nice things about the academy whilst cutting it off from the first team. Presumably what they now want is a manager who won't win 'in the right style' but might get them further in the Champions League. Which is sort of what they wanted when they brought in Mancini.

I wonder how much of this is down to the owners and how much to Beguiristain and Soriano. Pellegrini had done good things in Spain but had never consistently won much. I was frankly surprised by his appointment in the first place and wonder if Beguiristain in particular was behind it because he thought (probably rightly) that Pellegrini wouldn't rock the boat, and that the owners' squillions would make up for anything Pellegrini lacked.

One thing's for sure - if he thinks Rafa would be a compliant mouthpiece for more than about the first ten seconds after his appointment, he's got a VERY rude awakening in store.

To be honest hes the wrong sort of manager for them, they want somebody who can massage the big egos and get them playing attractive football. Ancelotti is the manager they should be after. That is assuming they arent trying to build a team from the academy with a mix of names thrown in, in which case Rafa is still a terrible fit and they should be looking at somebody like Klopp

I really cant see why they would want Rafa, big wages, bigger mouth, hes been going downhill for the best part of a decade now

@karlsentk: In my opinion it's far more likely that Man City will turn to Koeman or de Boer than Benitez (or Guardiola in 2016, for that matter)

The rumours from Napoli are of Rafa turning down a contract of course, rather than getting the boot.

I wouldn't.. apparently he is being seen as temporarily replacement..

He would do the job for them in short term...

Rafa really, really, needs another long-term job. He's drifting along in a succession of soulless short term jobs at present when he ought to be putting down roots.

Hopefully they do go for Koeman, because with all due respect to what Southampton have done this season, I wish they'd fuck off out of the top 4 race.
City will be there regardless.

Rafa says otherwise :
Benitez said: "I've read that the president (Aurelio De Laurentiis) may not offer a renewal.

"I've read that Benitez has already spoken with the team. This is not true.

"In a few weeks I'll meet with the president, and we'll discuss what's best for Napoli going forward."

At city he could have a room filled with tables and lamps! They're minted and he could have whatever he likes

'It's one season in to the new regime, and, at last, every piece of furniture is in its rightful place and all is right with Rafa's world. Then life happens:

I hope not, I don't want City getting a kick up the arse at this stage of the season, let them continue to wilt.

I'd be amazed if they hired Rafa

Maybe they haven't picked up on how much Napoli spent in the summer, how below the expectations they are performing and how the fans are turning on him? Maybe they missed his massive temper tantrum on live TV? But if they want to win Europe .....

He has that at Napoli. A good club with a decent squad and a very good owner.

If they aren't in the CL they don't need to comply with FFP all that much

That won't hurt them

Of course they do... it applies to the Europa League.. and your revenue over the last 3 years...

losing CL money will be a huge dent for them...

It doesn't seem to apply to your brother sponsoring you at way over the market rate though.

Rafa has won the Europa League twice and the CL once. If its European success they want they could easily go for someone else.

It's just a holding pattern until he comes home

Well. Ish. But he's obviously still restless, which is a bit sad, seeing as there was a time when he was competing neck and neck with Mourinho. He keeps talking about this 'project' of his but I wonder if he has the appetite for it any more. I suspect Hicks and Gillett wore him out.
