Just seen the stats, not disastrous but I thought this was interesting nonetheless.

Benitez has gained 24 points from 13 Premier League games in charge this season, which is two less than former boss Roberto Di Matteo accrued in 12 games before he was sacked in November.

I believe Roman will disagree with you – losing at Newcastle and dropping a point at Reading the way they did will not be acceptable for him. Probably even disastrous.
I think he expected more. And now that Pepe has signed for Bayern I think Roman will have even less patience to Rafa’s average success rate.

Things didn't go well for Rafa there to begin with, but at one point it was starting to look as though he was getting somewhere. Now one has to wonder if he'll even last the season, and (the Guardiola situation notwithstanding) his chances of getting the gig on a permanent basis are probably somewhere south of nil. I'm not wasting any regrets on the Chavs, but I can't help feeling sorry for Rafa and I'd like to see him settled and happy somewhere, as long as it's abroad. The Bernabeu next season maybe?

He'd do better if anyone (other than Abramovitch) wanted him there.

I'm surprised he took the job, he can't win even if he er.. wins.

Go to agree, they hated him from the start and was never going to win them over. Rumors of Abramovitch getting a team to analyse his role so far, it's a poisonous role from the start. Squad is unbalanced and reports of his team finding it hard to understand his complex tactics doesn't bode well but then they don't look the smartest of players. From LFC point of view, he's doing a good job and better than Chelsea fans deserve.

Apperantly he's been given a verbal warning by Chelsea. More meetings are planned.
I'm guessing a few more bad results and he's gone.

Yes I'm grateful for what Benitez achieved with us but I am enjoying watching it go wrong at Chelsea.

It's weird, because I hate Chelsea, but I will always like Benitez for what he did here - even though I wanted him gone.

Obviously my hatred for Chelsea overpowers my feelings towards Rafa. Oh well.

What verbal warning can they have given him? 'You know those games you keep drawing? Well, you need to win them'. I don't think old Roman will ever really 'get' sport.

Anyway, I'm not arsed. We're looking better, Chelsea are shit thanks to operation infiltrate the Chavs and I've just made a lovely fish pasta... which in itself is a miracle since it was made from a 2 euro bottle of wine, off asparagus and off spinach, and a fish that I defrosted by boiling it. Huzzah!

And I'm eating it straight from the pan because we have no clean plates.

I dont think Chelsea are guaranteed top 4.
I think our next 8 games have fallen nicely and if we play like we have this last 6 weeks we can make up the ground.

Rosco gon' be maaaaad.

Why? Your fish pasta?

What the stats show here is that when you give two managers the same squad the outcome is going to be largely the same even though the style might differ.

That is, the game is all about the players - the managers aren't important.

So, in other words Alan Curbishley could take over Utd next season and deliver the same results?

If you lot want to believe in managerial mystical powers, by all means go ahead.

But you're going to have to re evaluate Benitez if you do. If he's so spectacularly good yet he's doing worse than Di Matteo - and butchered his last job at Inter, after turning us into a midtable team, it doesn't make much sense does it?

Where are those powers now?
