And the reason Borini isn't getting a game is probably because he's been utter gash when he has played. He can't create, can't cross, can't hold up play, can't shoot and certainly can't score. His only asset is that he can run - otherwise he provides no threat whatever.

Lambert's a lumbering second rate player. We didn't win either of the games he scored in (one of which was down to awful defending).

He's detrimental to our play. No pace, no aggression, fuck all movement.

Borini's not the answer, but right now we'd play better as a team with him in the side imo.

Yeah, a number of us said this. He's got movement, never stops running - we're lacking movement up front and we've got nobody effectively closing down from the front. Surely Borini can help us in this area.

Then he got some time on the pitch and we remembered why we were so desperate to get rid of him in the summer. His movement may be much better than Mario or Lambert but passing him the ball has less end product than Diouf; he constantly loses the ball or attempts to cross it which amounts to about the same thing.
 
When I watch Balotelli play for us I understand why people want someone else up front, when I watch Lambert play for us I understand why people want Borini

...and when I watch Borini play for us I mostly don't notice because he's usually completely anonymous
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see Borini start given we might want to try and start with some energy, pace, and frontfootedness. Big European night, go at them from the start, chase them down, all that jazz. Borini gives a bit more spark and momentum in that regard than Lambert.

EDIT: Been doing well for the U21s of late in particular. Scored two against Ludogrets.
 
I'm pretty sure that Borini is gone form the squad permanently. BR is making a point. I think he would suit the current side much better than Lambert - In fact I think it's obvious that is the case.

I hope and pray we make it tonight so we can have a decent window next month. I think the two intertwine tbh.

Nice to ensure we get a tricky/pacey option on the bench but it would be a bit worrying if he appears ahead of Markovic..

I'm in a dilemma for this game. I'm out tonight at a film viewing at Bafta and so going to have to go on airplane mode to avoid texts etc until i get home to watch... Or I could slip in an earphone but that might not go down well at the home of film... haha

I think he could appear as well as. Markovic is struggling either to adapt or to handle the pressure of playing for us; Ojo should realistically come in and play without fear.

haha - my company have hired it out to take clients along so most will have proper jobs and it might be career ending to be seen with an earphone in... plus as I will likely have the most noticeable head in the crowd (e.g. higher up than everyone else!) I might not be able to disguise it too well...

May go for phone on lap with updates..

It was obvious until he spent time on the pitch. After that it became obvious he doesn't provide any solutions - he's just noise and distraction when looking for a real solution.
 
Ojo and Sinclair are both in the U19s team to face Basel, so obviously neither will be on the bench tonight.

However, Harry Wilson was also I believe in the Basel squad, and isn't in the U19s line up or on their bench, so I guess he could be on the bench tonight.

What film are you going to?

Ah don't wait til you watch it to know the score. If you have to miss it, keep up to date with your phone on the sly and watch highlights later. I could never avoid the score so I could watch it later. I'd need to know the score asap.

Imitation Game. I've actually already seen it - got the invite to this event after I had already gone with the missus but this is one of those great opportunities to get face time with the big dogs at work, I just happen to fluke an invite.

I think score updates flashing on phone will be the one.
