I really hope Balotelli is fit for this one. Just want another option.

Predicted line up:

--------------------------Mignolet

Johnson-------Skrtel----------Touré----------Moreno

-----------------Lucas-----------Allen
-------------------------Gerrard
Sterling----------------------------------Coutinho
---------------------Lambert

We'll be up for it, and win.

Like everyone, I hope Liverpool put in a good performance to get through to the knockout stages.

It would be useful if we get bit of help from the opposition such as a mistake here or there.

Something that makes Basil Fawlty.

Why? Is he going to suddenly transform all his weak aspects (mobility, aggression, pace, finishing) into positives?

Play Borini, like against Madrid. Fuck knows why he hasn't had a single minute since.

------------------Ming------------------
Johnson-Skrtel--Toure--Enrique
----------------Lucas-----------------
-----Gerrard----------Allen----------
-Markovic---Sterling---Coutinho

Why?

Because Toni Basil is the only other semi famous Basil after Brush & Fawlty that I can think of

Whoever we play, they're going to fall short. None of them are suited to the way we play. For all of Borini's running against Madrid, his frustrating tendency to go down screaming like a girl at least once per game, undoes what work ethic he has. Whoever plays, they won't pose much of a goal threat, that's just where we are at. Moaning about which one plays is fruitless, the outcome is more or less the same. Though to be fair to Lambert and Borini, at least they look like they give a shit.

How Lambert is getting abuse for bad finishing when he's scored and assisted more in 4 games than Borini in two seasons is beyond me.

And the reason Borini isn't getting a game is probably because he's been utter gash when he has played. He can't create, can't cross, can't hold up play, can't shoot and certainly can't score. His only asset is that he can run - otherwise he provides no threat whatever.

Id like to say in the Borini assisted Mario against Swansea

So he can cross

Anybody can cross, we're interested in someone who is consistently productive. Borini has not come close to being in that category, neither has Balotelli. Lambert is the only striker we have that has, which is depressing in itself.

Just highlighting that he has an assist in minimal playing time

Hmmm,

According to the premier league stats he has 1 goal in 23 appearances for us in the league. He has no assists. He currently averages 1 goal every 360 minutes of football in his professional career. 1 goal in 4.

Something I didn't realize until I had a look just now; according to whoscored.com he has, statistically, the following strengths: Nil.

He has, statistically, the following weaknesses: Passing, crossing, holding on to the ball and discipline. I'm not sure how goal scoring isn't listed as a weakness but if you can't pass, you can't cross, you can't hold the ball and you've got bad discipline then, IMO, you're stretching it to say you're a professional footballer.

Assist was in the league cup like

Again, just highlighting he's done something this season for us in spite of minimal playing time

I want to see:
-----------------------GK--------------------
--Johnson---Skrtel---Toure---Moreno--
---------------------Lucas-------------------
--------------Can----------Gerrard----------
------------------------------------------------
-----------Lallana-----------Coutinho----
---------------------Sterling----------------

We're at home in Europe and I think the key will be intelligent runs, bodies getting forward and most importantly good footballers which I think we will be ensuring we have with PC, AL, SG and RS all up attacking.

I'm generally anti- Johnson but I think he's been relatively solid past game or so and we might just need a cool head around Ming and Skrtel.

I think it's a pretty weak argument. But you probably know that already.
I'm not even advocating playing him or anything, so I don't even see why it's an argument?

I'm just saying he's contributed this season is all

If you had been watching us recently you wouldn't say that - our corners and FKs have been atrocious.

Basel are in the best form they've ever been I think. We wont boss anything. Hopefully a 2-1 hard fought win. This wont be easy.
