Bascombes problem was that when the old board went he lost all his insiders, and that goes for most of the ex local hacks. As we know very little comes out of Anfield these days. He probably got the NOTW job under a false pretence , and grabbed the opportunity while he could.

I'm sure someone (Broughton ?) mentioned recently that that scenario could not happen as RBS would take us over to specifically prevent us going into administration, a 9 point loss, and therefore a negative impact on our sales price.

In Purslows interview they asked him about this Times piece directly & he scoffed & said it was "speculative at best" later in the interview he said RBS had no intention of letting things progress to them taking over the club as it wasn't in theirs nor the clubs best interest.
