Babel - how would you play him?

Ive always seen him as a forward rather than a wide player, I know that there have been numerous comparisons with Henry but I think the player he resembles most is probably Anelka, he doesnt really have the confidence or work rate to play on the wing but he has good acceleration and a wicked right foot which make him a better candidate for a forward, plus he seems to have the strikers knack of scoring scrappy ugly goals

I think Rafa probably sees him as a wide player though which means his starts will be limited, that said Babel has the potential to be a really top class player, i think we have only seen about 70% of what he can do, where as with Riera I think hes a trier but he really doesnt bring that much to the table

in fact, i'd love to see him on loan at a premiership club. that would be boss.

How many players of 20 years and older can you name who've been loaned out and came back stronger than they were? Usually it only works to players disadvantage and kills their remaining confidence. And managers at small clubs might not be so good at grooming players with top-class potential. Rafa might not be as good as Wenger in this regard, but I would much rather entrust the education of Babel to him than some small-time coach from some shithole who only knows how to shout at his players.

i see your point.

he is a bit of.

I think he's the best Torres cover we've got, and also our most unpredictable attacking weapon off the bench. A lot depends on his attitude and form, but I do agree with spidey that he should be rewarded for good performances (and punished for bad ones), not routinely dropped back to the bench irrespective of how he plays.

He is the most predictable attacking weapon we have got, you can safely predict he will be cack. The fat that we are still in the position to rely on the utter spaz is beyind fucking belief.

The question is, is Babel good enough of a cover for Torres, or should we spend more money in that department? I cannot say with certainty that he's good enough. But I think Babel is better than a lot of the alternatives that we can afford. Honestly, I would rather spend all of the transfer money on Silva and/or Sneijder.

Time to back Babel, he needs of run of 7-8 games to see what he can do, he needs to see that the manager has faith in him, and give him enough of a chance to get over the nerves and redeem himself if he has a couple of bad games to begin with.

Doing something decent in one in seven (or more) appearances is beyond unpredictable. The best thing going for him is that when he does do something he usually does it in spectacular fashion and against a top side, but that's really ignoring the gaping flaws in his overall game, his hopeless lack of self confidence and the numerous laughable performances he puts in against everyone else.

Yet for all the (positive) reasons stated I still wanted us to keep hold of him in the Summer, just incase like.

No he's not.

Silva not Sneidjer (we have just bought Aquilani FGS) unless Leiva goes too.
