I do get that Ayre is a dick, but I never got the hate for him as CEO.

I've seen loads of stuff attributed as being his fault without any evidence of it. Whatevers. Arsed.

I think he's a bellend. I don't get the hate for failing to sign players continually though. Don't get me wrong, I'll make a jibe about it, but I'm almost fucking positive it's not his fault.

Let's face it, the job of negotiating for players isn't that different to negotiations for commercial interests, so he's hardly inept.

Even if he were a shite negotiator (which I highly fucking doubt) then if we were offering more than other clubs, or an unbeatable wage then it wouldn't matter anyway.

We simply don't want to pay top dollar, fee or salary.

It's not just the waistcoat - which blokes have no idea these days how to spot a good cut - but a knitted waistcoat! The man is a buffoon.

What you need the CEO to be good at these days, most of all, is premier league politics, and Derry was shite at that. You need someone who charms, influences and ultimately controls the rest.

On the other hand he made that ace 69 joke to Joe Allen.
Sorry mate - You've lost me. If it was in that 'Being Liverpool' thing then I tended to skip through most of it or was hiding behind my couch in shame and embarrassment. Feel free to enlighten me.

Difficult to know if he has done a good job on the commercial front because of the amateurs who ran the club before.

As a comparison, Spurs are lining up a kit deal worth 30 million of year and they haven’t won anything of note

A good commercial director it seems, but he ended up with too wide a remit for his abilities I reckon. He was never going to move back to simply a commercial role either, if that was offered to him. It's all guess work but it's most likely a guy FSG really want will be available next summer and they want to get him/her.

It's quite an achievement for a big club like Liverpool to have not one but two CEOs practically snubbed by the Premier League committee, but we managed it with Purslow and Ayre. Thanks to their astounding lack of social skills and political nous, we've had barely any influence when it matters when the bosses meet to discuss anything of significance. Purslow was quickly identified as an oleaginous chancer, while Derry Ayre has been regarded as an embarrassment for his laughably misplaced arrogance and spectacular tactlessness. We need someone now who'll bring some gravitas to the job, giving the club a bit of authority, and a moral compass, at home, while reclaiming some clout in the broader football world.

I like the monicker Derry.
Is it because he is an ass?

Already linked with him today I think.

Cortese? Certainly did some good work at Southampton but I've sometimes seen him described as a bit of a hatchet man. If one item on the person spec.is how, or even if, he'll get on with the Prem committee, might that be a drawback?
