It's quite an achievement for a big club like Liverpool to have not one but two CEOs practically snubbed by the Premier League committee, but we managed it with Purslow and Ayre. Thanks to their astounding lack of social skills and political nous, we've had barely any influence when it matters when the bosses meet to discuss anything of significance. Purslow was quickly identified as an oleaginous chancer, while Derry Ayre has been regarded as an embarrassment for his laughably misplaced arrogance and spectacular tactlessness. We need someone now who'll bring some gravitas to the job, giving the club a bit of authority, and a moral compass, at home, while reclaiming some clout in the broader football world.
