Away day blues.

Playing away has always been difficult, but it seems to be getting more so every year as more and more teams coming up adopt dour 'Big Sam-esque' tactics at home to stop the opposition nicking the points.
Heres a bit of (fairly amazing) info from this year so far.
Ok the current top 4 have played 10 away games combined winning just FOUR.
13 Teams are still unbeaten at home Including West Brom, Fulham, Blackpool, Sunderland, Birmingham, Bolton and Wolves.
The bottom HALF of the table have won just TWO away games combined.
87 goals have been scored by teams at home
56 goals by away sides.
Only FOUR teams have a positive goal differance away from home (Spurs, City, Arsenal and Chelsea).
40 times the home team has taken points.
27 times away teams have taken points.
just NINE away wins in total in the whole league.

Manchester United and Arsenal have so far played 5 away games with one win between them.
Liverpool have played 3 without a win.

Tell me about it man. I go most aways and they just aren't as much fun as they were a few years ago. Last seasons aways were a disaster - right from the first at Spurs. This years are worse, starting with Citeh.

But looking forward to Utrecht... as much for the blue mushrooms as the footy.

Was hoping to get to this when the dates were announced, but my friend in The Hague had cancelled on me and I'm coming up for the Blackpool game.

Cant afford accomo for both, which is sad since Utrecht is just 20 miles from Amsterdam (40 minutes from Norwich).

Would be hard to make both anyway.

Crump, do you have any way to get some away tickets for London?

London is probably the nearest for me to get to away games.

Which was why I was chuffed with the Northampton fixture, only to see that it was a home game.

Thank God for that though,I'd have gone to Northampton otherwise...and probaly jumped into the River Yare on the way back.

Some of the missus friends have said that getting any for London would be very expensive 🙁

It's OK if it's unlikely though, but I'd be grateful if anyone else had any sources... Spion, Sunny..anybody? 🙂

The best way to read this statistic is to be motivated by the fact that if we start winning away games we will be catching up on the teams (and there are alot of them now) ahead of us. It of course means we have to dare to win them and risk loosing them, but statistically we dont get much from them anyway so the risk is quite low.

We could be on the fringes of the top four with a win tomorrow, the margin at this stage of the season is neither here nor there, but we have to make the most of the next 5 games and stop looking so fucking brittle.

Ave, the London aways are the hardest to get spares for as that's where the scouse diaspora usually ends up living.

We have an excellent opportunity over the next 9 or so games to consolidate a Top 4 position. If Miereles, Cole, Konchesky, Pacheco, Poulson & Jovanovic can settle in, and we start creating more opportunities with less defensive frailties, then we should be up there.

I had missed those stats Oncy - very very interesting and if it stays that way this season then it'll be easier to stay in touch so long as we do the business at home.
