I know he was rather ... uuuh ... shit for us but he just got into a serious car accident today, and came into the hospital with an extremely serious head injury.

Prayers to his family ... Let's hope he pulls through.

Cohen began his playing career with Maccabi Tel Aviv before joining Liverpool for a fee of £200,000 in July 1979.[1] He struggled to establish himself as a regular at Anfield and was released in November 1981, rejoining Maccabi.[1] On September 20, 1980 Cohen stirred up controversy when he decided to play in Liverpool's away fixture versus Southampton F.C. which fell on the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. Liverpool drew with Southampton 2-2 in front of 24,085 spectators and Cohen was lambasted by the Israeli media for playing.[2] He returned to the UK in 1987 when he had a brief spell under former Liverpool teammate Graeme Souness at Rangers,[1] before ending his career with Maccabi Netanya.
He also played for the Israeli national team 52 times, scoring 3 goals. His son Tamir is currently an international professional footballer who plays for Bolton Wanderers F.C. in the Premier League and the Israeli national team.
Cohen was seriously injured in a motorbike crash on 20 December 2010. He was taken to Aviv’s Ichilov Hospital, where he was immediately taken into surgery.

Ha, I bet there must of been tens of players to play for us who I've never heard of

He was pretty average (polite) but that's not really important I guess

My thoughts are in Isreal - pull through

Sorry to hear about Avi Cohen's accident. I thought he was a pretty classy player when he was on Liverpool's books.

He was a decent left back and significantly better than our regular crop. Best wishes Avi.

The doctors say he's in a critical conditions.

He was a classy CB who was played by us at LB (Rafa was apparently not the first manager to play players out of poistion...), but Alan Kennedy was a better choice on the left.
I still remember that title clinching game in May 1980 when we beat Villa 4:1 with Avi scoring on both ends.

His son, Tamir plays for Bolton.

YNWA get well soon
on the other hand i think yossi was extremely under rated by most he was one of the players who could come on and do something creative and change the game .we dont have anyone at the moment who has that something creative when we face a well organised defensive side .we are so predictable it is easy to close us down once any of our players get anywhere near the opposition penalty area.

Official says it was a Motorcycle accident, he mustn't have had a helmet, get well soon Avi

He had a helmet, but not the 'cover your head' helmet, but the 'half helmets' (I have no idea what they're called in English or any language for that matter).

The medic at the site said it may have lessened the severity of his injuries ...

Right now, it doesn't look good at all ....

Was Avi Cohen described by someone as the most skilful player they'd ever seen in training?

Nah, that's Vlad Smicer

Dunno; but Kenny had a funny story about him.

The Press wanted to get Paisley's comments about Cohen possibly not being able to play on Saturdays as he was an Orthodox Jew.

His reply was that he already had loads of players who didn't play on Saturdays ;D
