Even with Smith's cheating, it's still a close call. Kohli is such a massive quim.
I'm sure that once Smith succumbs to all of this pressure and comes out the balance will tip back in his favour.

Looks like Warner has attempted to throw a few more under the bus to spread the blame (and dilute his own culpability), and his mates have told him to do one. Which is all good.
Agreed. I think the reaction is a way over the top. But I think it is due to two reasons.
First is the level of planning which went into this. This is not a simple applying saliva or chewing gum type scandal. I found the amateurishness kinda funny.
Second and the most important reason IMO is because it was done by this incredibly unlikable Aussie team. It reminds me of some politicians who spent their lives preaching about family values and get caught having sex with their staff.
I think the main motivating factor isn't other cricketing nations enjoying the schadenfreude of this unlikeable team coming a cropper. It is the response of Australian cricket supporters, and the Australian nation to the act. They're not for making excuses for these people. They're disgusted. There's something about that baggy green cap that's sacrosanct among the Aussies. They're mortified. They feel utterly betrayed. No other nation would crucify the players to the same extent, but no other nation sees the cricket team as a shining avatar for their country in the same way.

Not really - If true.
I'm only disappointed we cannot continue to go at Smith ... it was obvious our bowlers were eager to go after him, and 142 runs after 6 innings shows who came out on top.
It is severe in the context of how any cricket board has addressed things of this nature before. Loss of earnings in those 12 months is significant and I think this sets a great prescedent for any other players thinking of similar things in the future.
