Fabio has been named in the squad that will face England in Qatar in a friendly game in the middle of November.

Goalkeepers: Julio César (Inter Milan), Doni (Roma)

Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Michel Bastos (Lyon), Fabio Aurelio (Liverpool), Luisão (Benfica), Juan (Roma), Naldo (Werder Bremen), Lúcio (Inter Milan)

Midfielders: Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos), Josué (Wolfsburg), Ramires (Benfica), Felipe Melo (Juventus), Julio Baptista (Roma), Kaká (Real Madrid), Elano (Galatasaray), Alex (Spartak Moscow), Carlos Eduardo (Hoffenheim), Lucas Leiva (Liverpool)

Forwards: Luis Fabiano (Seville), Nilmar (Villarreal), Givanildo Vieira de Souza Hulk (Porto), Robinho (Manchester City)

He is defi going to get injured. The man got injured playing with his kids.

Liverpool's medics are miracle workers. They have managed to get this guy fit for at least half of each season he has been here. That is outstanding achivement.

Was just thinking does that mean no Aurelio over Xmas. The lad has wretched luck.

Id be more fucking worried about Steven Gerrards participation in this game...he loves playing for england!

Nice. He must be absolutely ecstatic after all these years. Hope he gets to play a part - when you think of all they've players who have been capped over the years, he certainly deserves it.

As long as he manages to stay fit I'm happy with that. I bet Rafa will be fuming, though. Hope Gerrard is not called by Capello for this one.
And BTW, we have one more representative in the Brazilian squad...

So that's 3 internationals we'll have at left-back.

An Italian, a Brazilian, and an Argentinian. Of course none of these internationals are as good as Stephen Warnock whose career highlights include being ok for Blackburn and never being capped by England.

Why play a friendly in Qatar? And why in the middle of November?

Yet again fantastic work from the FA.

ha ha.
didn't warnock leave because he couldn't get ahead of djimi in the pecking order?

Being capped by your country is irrelevant really

Unless you're trying to imply that because Drossena has been capped by Italy, he isn't a useless, slow, fat cunt who is immeasurably worse than two of the Liverpool LBs he succeded, Riise and Warnock

No no Brendan, what I am implying is that the opinions of Marcello Lippi, Diego Maradona, Dunga, and Rafa Benitez whom now we're told chose Djimi fucking Traore over Warnock hold a touch more weight than those of Brendan from SCM.

How's that superstar Danny Guthrie getting on at Newcastle by the way?

you seriously have to wonder what rafa saw in dossena that made him stump up 8 million for him. he has only stumped up more (in defense) on johnson. maybe he didn't see him but a scout told him he is worth his weight in gold and rafa took him literally.

warnock definately left liverpool before djimi, infact djimi was given a new contract by rafa.

Rafa said recently that Dossena has really struggled to fit into the system, four at the back. He had been playing as a wing back for Udinese and that it has been difficult to adapt.

That, and the obvious flaws of horrible defending and being slow as fuck.

I wonder how much that left back for lyon (the one who was superb against us) went for? actually just looked it up, 13 million. fucking hell good fullbacks aren't cheap are they?

So that's damaged your argument still further

Benitez thought Traore was better than warnock. Wrong

Benitez thought Drossena was better than Riise. Wrong again

This is going well for you

Insua's better than Warnock was at the same age.

Despite his moments og glory, Riise had to be moved on. I'd rather have Aurellio & Insua than Riise.

Dosenna is terrible though. As was Traore... but I culd never understand what possessed anyone to ever play him, at LB.

Mind you... didn't we make a profit on him when we sold him... not that it would have been hard since we paid very little... but still...

I'm not 'arguing' anything Brendan. I'm merely illustrating that your latest declarations are as shite as your old ones.

I'll ask again - How's Danny Guthrie getting on?

Top of the Championship, I think.

I don't really follow his career any more than you follow that of Hayden Mullens

And all claptrap about international caps and managers aside, what is your opinion of Drossena?

Better or worse LB than Stephen Warnock?

Obviously worse in terms of defending.

But I reckon he's already scored a few more goals?

Yes, playing in the Coca-Cola Championship. I would have thought that inconceivable for someone who's "10 times better" than a first choice midfielder for Liverpool, and current player for the No. 1 ranked International side in the World, but who am I to argue with your logic Bren?

Believe it or not, I don't mind Dossena. He's not going to cut it with us, much like Warnock I suppose, but that's not to say he's not capable. He was in the Italian squad before he joined us so he must have been doing something right in Serie A. He, as has been pointed out before, is obviously too slow for the Premier League. His touch is good mind, his ability on the ball is better than that of Warnock, and he's proved ok as a sub, but that's about it.

Warnock is a recipient of that smaller club syndrome; whereby he doesn't get scrutinised to the levels he would for us, and as such is deemed to be doing better than he actually is. Kinda like Kirkland at Coventry I suppose. He's a likeable sort, is full of heart, and doesn't shirk anything. But he's fucking garbage on the ball, is largely shite going forward, and wouldn't cut it at any level above where he's currently at.
