At least Aquilani scored a belter

Yeah, my Juve-supporting cousins in Malta (who were distinctly meh about the signing to begin with) haven't been slow to wave this under my nose.

at least it's looking like we'll get a good amount back for him in the summer, hopefully he stays injury-free.

I don't know what the situation was with his contract, whether we could afford it or not, but I always wanted him to be given another season here or to sell him for a decent sum.

A loan deal was fucking shit.

Apparently Juve will only offer us £10M for him!

Not bad, you can get two Poulsens for that.

that's just a bullshit rumour. i think the amount laid down in the loan agreement is 16m euros, or about £13.5m.

A season, I think, and I doubt we'll see him back at Anfield. I'm told he's loving being back home in Italy and will move Heaven and Earth to try and stay there.

How did we allow him to go to Juve without trying to get Diego from them on loan.

He seems to have bulked up a bit.

He(for a footballer) had the most skinniest legs ever....

Nah McManaman's were worse. Little matchsticks. Great player though.

Aquilani is better than every player we have at creating opportunities, with the sole exception of Steven Gerrard.
Roys a fucking prick.

^^^

Releasing Aqualani when he'd shown at the end of last season that he could bring the best out of the players around him was fucking madness. We persevered through the rehabilitation only to send him out when he was ready to be used. Then we bring in Poulson.

I'm going to buck the trend a bit here and say I can understand why the move was agreed. There were - still are IMO - genuine doubts about whether Aquilani is suited here and, if he isn't, we'll be better off with the money. Nobody wanted to buy him at that stage so a loan deal was one way of working towards an actual sale.

That makes sense but looking how frail our midfield is i cannot justify the transfer. Even if aqua was just a sub, he's a potential game changer

He had six assists and 2 goals in about a dozen matches towards the end of last season. That was proof enough for me that he had something that was useful to us.
