Team news, preferred formations?

I'd go with

Reina
Johnson
Skrtel
Agger
Enrique
Shelvey
Adam
Henderson
Maxi
Bellamy
Suarez

I assume you want Shelvey on the right? I know Kuyt has been shit, but I'd rather he started and (the massively overhyped) Shelvey could come on in the 2nd half. I dont want to be too harsh on Shelvey, as he is only 19 and could have a bright future. I just dont trust him in a first 11 as he has done absolutely nothing in a Liverpool shirt to justify it.

Yeah I agree with Iseered - let's start a player we know won't do the business instead of one who might but we're not certain of yet.

Villa's backline is painfully slow so with that in mind - a mobile, quick and nimble front line is vital hence get Suarez, Maxi and Bellamy all in the team.

Putting Carroll in might just play into Villa's hands, Dunne and Collins are beasts in the air but are easily exposed by good movement and pace.

I'd like to see this line up:

---------------------------- Reina --------------------------------

Johnson(well Kelly but it won't happen) --- Skrtel--- Agger --- Enrique

-------------- Henderson ---------- Adam -----------------

----- Downing------------------ Bellamy ------------------ Maxi

--------------------- Suarez -------------------------------

I'm no fan of Downing but the old playing against your old team scenario might just bring the best out in him. Furthermore, Dirk hasn't been in great form of late.

No, I'd want him in a three man midfield actually. Maxi, Bellamy and Suarez can play up top and go wide interchangeably. Not overly fussed about width as long as we have enough ability, pace and guile up front - and I think the Suarez, Maxi, Bellamy combination offers that the best currently at the club.

As you may or may not be aware, Kuyt has been "doing the business" for years. Shelvey should get a chance, and I want to believe, but we have seen very little from him so far. Despite the injury to Lucas there are still players ahead of him in the pecking order. Not that I am desperate to see Kuyt in the line up on current form. I guess it is Downing's turn to have a go.

Yeah Kuyt was once pretty handy, he's shown nothing to suggest he is this year.

Fowlerwas brilliant in the past, should we see if fancies playing too ?

Shelvey got a lovely assist vs fulham last year I believe. Hence he's not done "nothing".

There are definitely glimpses here and there, but nothing that justifies some of the hype on here. I do realize some of that is tongue in cheek though.
Edit: Rosco, see my edit. I am not keen on Kuyt either on current form.

This "proven" thing is a nonsense for me, once players are proven they're generally past their best. Shelvey's got talent, I'd rather find out if he's capable than play Kuyt when we know he's not in good form.

Villa are mostly fucking garbage, so this seems like the ideal game for him to play.

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Henderson Shelvey Adam Downing
Suarez Carroll

------------------- Reina
Johnson --- Skrtel -- Agger --- Enrique
--- Henderson --- Adam --- Shelvey
--- Downing ----- Suarez ---- Bellamy

I'd rather play Maxi over Downing but I'm guessing the latter will be eager to play against his former club and starting on the bench will not do wonders for his already rocky confidence.

Steady.

Hope Carroll plays. Villa has been of the worst team I've seen this Season they are there for the taking. Reckon there's a godo chance will score a handful tomorrow. 3+ at least.

Give the lad some confidence.

Downing perhaps instead of Bellers due to the opposition. Would be time for him to hit it via the bar into the net.

Carroll is a fucking donkey mate. If we want to win games, he needs to stay on the bench. If Suarez gets banned I'd entertain the idea of him starting a game up front on his own as the focal point of the attack. He might actually start scoring then.

The worst thing is, we pick up exactly the same amount of points with him in the side.

To play Carroll against Dunne would probably be as stupid as playing Carroll against Hangeland. I'd go for a more mobile attack (Bellamy-Suarez-Kuyt).

Villa have scored 18 goals all season. Woeful.

To put that into comparison, Citeh have scored 49, Chelsea 44, even fucking Blackburn have banged in 23.

They're dreadful in attack, and play a flat, defensive-minded midfield who's sole job is to give the ball to Agbonlahor and N'Zogbia and hope they carry the ball forward with pace. Stop those two - which to be real isn't difficult cos they're fairly limited footballers - and all you have to do is score one goal to win the game.

Which we'll do. 1-0. Watch me be right.

I've got a bad feeling about this one. Which usually precedes us giving someone a spanking.

Haven't we also scored only 18 goals this season?

They're completely lacking in killer instinct in attack. Stop Suarez and all you have to do is score one goal to win the game.

The other side of the coin.

Ha. I meant to type 'like us' in that opening sentence, and obvioucly forgot.

I've watched Villa once or twice this season and they never look like scoring. I suppose we've missed a fucking shedload of chances, so I'd give us the edge.

Ross is bang on in this thread. We have a midfielder in fine scoring form , irrespective of league, and we're talking about playing a striker at right wing who has looked as threatening as a paper bag this season .

4 3 3 with adam hendo and jonjo, maxi suarez and bellamy up top.

Mobility and vision oozes out of that team
