Arsenal To Launch Cheeky January Bid For Liverpool Outcast?

By Chris Wright

Word on Rumour Avenue is that Arsenal are seriously considering making a cheeky January bid for Liverpool’s bench-bound defender Daniel Agger, and that they may face competition from their north London rivals Tottenham in doing so.

Agger is known to be tiring of his peripheral life at Anfield, with a recurring back problem and a public ‘difference of opinions’ with manager Roy Hodgson serving to severely limit his availability.

As things stand, the classy Dane has only made three starts for Liverpool this season and it is being speculated that an offer of around £7 million may be enough to swing it in Arsene Wenger‘s favour.

Classy on the ball, versatile on it, a penchant for long-range Exocet’s, relatively cheap and only 25-years-old yet with plenty of international experience, the thought of Daniel Agger in an Arsenal shirt just seems to sit flush, doesn’t it?

Sell him.
Moany cunt and always injured.
He'd be on decent money too so I'd be sure he wouldn't come under the 'value for money' category NESV seem to desire.

Have to agree think his injuries are not going away not reliable so sell him for a good profit. Good player on his day though could still end up being a steal for Arsenal.

Tell them to do one, unless they want to pay £10m+

Surprised.

Basing on your vocal arguments with KHL, i would have imagined you were willing to sell him for peanuts.

I do agree with your opinion.

I think we can sell one of Skrtel/Agger. The reason for that is Kyrgiakos has shown a bit of form to show that he can fight for a first team place on merit. We also have three very good centre backs coming through in Wilson, Kelly and Ayala.

Depending on the price we can command for the two i would sell off one of them, without batting an eyelid.

Without wanting to get into it again, I've never said I don't rate Agger.

The Greek is doing well but he's not the future, Agger and Skrtel are both relatively young and could prove to become great centre backs, fitness permitting of course. I'd still like to see us bring in a younger commanding presence at the back though, in the mould of a Sami.

We should keep him if we can but if he does want to go then it wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm sure we'd get a fair bit for him so we can get someone in, preferably someone who can head the ball and who isn't injured all the time.

I dont think we should take the risk of selling him to any of our competition (if arse are still considered competition that is)

So what's that now... Reina for 9M and Agger for 7M?

Maybe we can find someone to take Torres off our hands for 12M as well whilst we're at it.

It's all very shite though. Spurs have, what, 8 centre backs. And Wenger bought two during the summer.

I think we should consider selling him, but not for anywhere near £7M.

He's got to be in the £11-14M bracket.

Reading the title of this I thought it meant Babel and though 'thank fuck for that..'

Agger is a must keep. Now we have an awesome medical team he will stay fit and be one of the best defenders IN THE WORLD..

You do realise he's not fit at the moment?

That sounds about right.

Would anyone pay that much for Agger? Considering that they are not getting a player who will be fit to play very often.

I'm working on the basis that Lescott is worth £20m or so 😉

KHL, if Agger left would you throw all your support behind Poulsen?
[/quote]

He'd be running around Legoland, kicking out all the children, screaming "IT'S MINE, IT'S MINE", before crumbling into a heap, exhausted, and then start sobbing to himself.

Probably.
