wish we played football like germany
* simple pass and move
* defend as a team attack as a team
* pace on the counter attack
* every player comfortable in their position

Of all the teams to be envious of, Germany don't rank very highly for me.
They have been far better than I thought they were though.

I talking being envious of football that is within our grasp. we can play football like brazil (for example) because we don't have the players for it.

We played better football the season before last than Brazil this world cup, but I know what you mean.
I don't particularly think a counterattacking style of play is within our reach until we buy speed, and it doesn't really work in the premiership so well either, as there's a ton of teams that come and are happy to take the draw. Germany are a tournament team.
We played a lot of counterattacking football last year, and it didn't work so well. We've only one striker for it really, but since the rest of the team is generally quite slow, we couldn't possibly spring forward in numbers as the Germans do. Think back to any one of the billion times Kuyt was apparently in space for a counter, and had to check back. He's just not that fast. Neither is Maxi, Riera, Yossi (won't need to worry about that anymore). Gerrard-Torres was the only game in town, and with one in horrible form, picking the wrong passes and not looking explosive at all, and the other injured for most of the season, it doesn't work.
