Are we happy?

Nail your colours to the mast guys. Only time will tell but is it a good transfer window for us so far?

We've four new players who look to automatically improve our first team.
Milner,
Clyne,
Frimino,
Benteke,

Gomez seems to be way better than expected which is a nice little kicker. I was gutted to lose Sterling but it is time to let the positive vibes creep in? I'm an Illarmendi signing away from heralding this window a success!!

I was relatively happy until we got Benteke.

I've almost lost hope in Rodgers based on the tail end of last season so it will take a superb start for me to be anything more than meh

Like when we signed Keane, while he will obviously improve us, I don't think he will improve us enough and I don't think he will be used effectively to his strengths and will ultimately not get us back to where we want to be which is number one.

I'm happy because because we have a squad good enough to challenge for the title. If we don't finish in the top 3 and within 6 or 7 points of top then the manager should be replaced. For the record I think we will finish 3rd or 4th but wouldn't be hugely surprised if we actually finished top.

I'm happy, the gamble is whether or not Firmino will be superior to Sterling, he has the potential to eclipse him, but he could also fail, so a lot of whether this summer is a success or not hinges on that. Every other transfer is a marked improvement for the squad though, Benteke > Balotelli, Milner > Gerrard, Clyne > Johnson, Ings > Borini, Gomez > Enrique, Bogdan > Jones, we just have to hope that both Benteke and Firmino bring us some much needed game winning ability, because we badly need that.

Such casual optimism!

All those four sigings will improve us. I'm also happy about the changes Rodgers have done to his backroom staff and that we seem to have gone back to the approach from 13/14 with high pressing and being more direct.

So yes, I'm happy but still feel we are missing maybe one signing for this to be an excellent transfer window.
Had we managed to get a proper midfielder and sold Lucas then the balance of the team would look even better.
But that might still happen.

I'm also very happy with have got all our players signed up long before August, that should help us start quickly, kudos backroom staff.

Firminho excites me.
Gomez and Milner look like shrewd signings.
Clyne will be good.
The Benteke deal has took the gloss off a decent summer's business for me.
We could have probably got a decent striker and a good dm for 32 million.
Anyway the fucker scores goals and will scare defenders so he should be decent.
I'm happy enough but our start to the season should tell all.

I think Pesam's right. We've got all the tools to be a formidable side, and its up to the manager to utilise this squad to its upmost potential. Could be exciting.

I'm definitely happy with the way we have gone about the business this summer. Ings, Clyne, Milner, Gomez, Firmino all came very quickly and quietly.
Benteke was a bit longer but we held out and made a deal that worked well for us in terms of the structure. The club also handled the Sterling thing brilliantly I think, didn't say much to the media just told City to pay up.

The issue with 'players who will improve the first team is we have lost regular starters in Gerrard and Sterling, hopefully Milner and Firmino will be able to plug that gap and the likes of Clyne & Benteke will be an improvement on whatever we we unable to replace the season before.

I'm pretty happy with the players we have brought in, if they all hit the ground running we will do very well.

Last season, the reason we didn't get top 4 was we didn't score enough goals. This summer we've brought in Benteke, Ings, Firmino, and Milner to score goals from the off. So for me, we're heading in the right direction, and have made a significant improvement over last season.
I'm confident that between Benteke, Ings, sicknote, Firmino, Milner, Coutinho, Lallana, Lazar, Henderson, Skrtel - we are defo good for ~80 goals, and 80 goals gets you top 4.

I'm reasonably happy. I was expecting a better striker than Benteke but I've warmed to the idea somewhat.

Not happy but hopeful.

Yeah, that's where I'm at.

I feel like we're finally at a point where we can conclusively say it's the end of an era. In recent times we've struggled but there has always been a Gerrard, Torres or Suarez to keep up pretenses and add a bit of glamour.

The whole depressing Sterling saga has simply underlined that and made clear our position in the current order of things.

We've (mis)spent a lot of money again and whereas in the past we always found another player that went on to replace or eclipse the departing star player, this time I'm not so sure we've managed it. If we haven't gotten things right this time, there may be no big sale down the line to give us another bite at the cherry.

Someone said the other day that there is a lot of talent in the squad but it lacks stardust. That nails it for me. We're all about potential right now and with major question marks hanging over the people in charge of developing that into something more than that, it's really just a case of hoping for the best rather than being happy or satisfied with our lot in life. That's just me though.

Having looked at things realistically I think we should be fairly happy. Milner is a very good piece of business and Clyne is an excellent full back. Gomez seems to have a huge amount of potential too. I had accepted Sterling would be gone a long time ago, so gutted as I am to lose him I've accepted it. A lot rests on Firmino replacing him. I I would have liked more than Benteke for 32 million, but I couldn't even tell you who we could have got who'd be willing to come here. He's a very good player though and is far more than a target man, but his size will give us another dimension. I'd like another DM to compete with Lucas. If we were to get one I wouldn't be majorly upset if we lost Joe Allen. I like him but he's inconsistent. and I'd like us to be able to offload Borini, Lambert, Balotelli and Enrique. There's no point in having to pay them and having them clog up bench space that better players and even some reserves could fill.

Obviously only time will tell but this looks to be our best summer since the Dead Sea was merely sick.

A defensive - or defensively minded - midfielder would top things off nicely. But happy as things go and, like others on here, am hopeful. Always hopeful.

Happy.

I really hope we don't sign another midfielder. I desperately want to see Rossiter given more chances this season.

I should have called this thread 'Are We There Yet?'

As I said i'm an Illiarmendi signing away from being relatively happy with this window.

Sure why not throw in Digne and Pedro as well.

We'd get a few quid for Coutinho but this squad has less star players in it than at any other time during my years as a supporter. We really need Firmino and Benteke to be successes.

Do we not think Emre Can can play the defensive midfield role effectively?
Can't see him going back to the defense again, and wont play right back especially with Clyne there now.
It was always thought he would kick on and be moved up the pitch a little.

Delighted, we have improved the first team and the options massively, not sure how anyone can't be happy with that after some of the crap we've had recently

He's not the most disciplined or energetic. If he was to be moved into midfield I suspect he would play further forward than DM.

You could argue about the positions (no dm) and some players (Bentake fee) though on the whole it has been a good window.

Whether it will be good enough, is another question....
