apparently a done deal. 25 percent stake for 125 mill.
[/quote]Thanks Skully.
Will that be 12.5% of each others stake? Or will it be Hicks 50%, and Gillete and ayrab 25% each?

11 pages of bullshit!!

*i can do better, runs off to General forum to start thread on Jews, Immigration, Muzzies*

i heard its suppose to be 25% of Gillets stake...

So hicks will be the majority shareholder.

wouldn't suprise me though.. its be known for quite a while Gillet would sell if the right prospective buyer came along...

I imagine none of the cash would be made avail for transfers though.. will probably go straight into repaying the debt 🙁

So how rich is this prince then?

Getting in someone with a bit of money can only be viewed as very positive. We really need to start building the new stadium, and to be able to compete in the transfer market. Hopfeully its a done deal and have a positive influence.

Thanks for the info Skully

The persons wealth is irrelevant. He's buying a small stake in the club, in order to put in any more money (i.e. for transfers) a rights issue would have to take place and that would most likely be blocked by the other two parties.

My take on it is:

If Gillett is selling 25% of his stake, he's selling his property and he'll pocket the 125m. No benefit to LFC.

If both are selling 12.5% each, then I don't think it'll be taken out of the club by them. They need to raise money for the stadium, they know it's essential to the financial success of the business. I believe it'll be the first chunk of money used to get the stadium construction up and running. It could also be used to pay back debt, but I don't think that'll happen because the debt repayments are already covered in our running costs and there is no smart reason to pay them back early and leave ourselves without funds to begin the stadium.

Loaded apparantly. He's the son of one of the major Princes so will be one of the next generation of crooks in line for the throne.

Check out his coat! what more evidence do you need he has money to waste.

the saudis have a strange system of multiple investment companies, wealth funds, different family members etc. all tied into the state. it's very difficult to tell who is worth what or backed by what which is exactly how they like it but they're always in some way connected to the state. .

If you notice the prince in his statements refers to sporting ambitions of the 'kingdom' so that tells me he has some backing higher up in the State/Royal family structure to persue this kind of deal which could mean he is backed by billions but it's very difficult to know and there's little public information available.

You mean what you read on the internet and are now trying to make out you're connected....right.

It's got nothing to do with any investment and all about academies, which has given little George a chance for some flashy PR, which the suckers have gobbled up.

I reckon it's stadium related, a saudi company is going to get a fat contract and maybe a downpayment? with naming rights covering the balance.

cracking deal for the yanks because they have a minority investor and a stadium built increasing their equity. I doubt a penny will go on players.

Neither George Gillett Jr nor Tom Hicks, the co-owners of Liverpool, is expecting imminent investment in the club from Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah al-Saud, a member of the Saudi Royal Family, despite reports to the contrary over the weekend.

Hicks and Gillett are in ongoing talks with a number of potential third-party investors as they seek first to reduce Liverpool’s £250 million debt and second to bring in the kind of sizeable cash injection needed to finance the club’s move from Anfield to a long-planned new stadium on nearby Stanley Park.

Prince Faisal, who visited the club’s academy in Kirkby on Saturday before attending Liverpool’s home match against Hull City, is the latest potential investor to express an interest in taking a stake in the club and his public admission to this effect has come as a surprise to Hicks in particular, but also to Gillett.

According to a report in Saudi Al-Riyadh, the newspaper, Prince Faisal, who chairs Fama Group, the Saudi holding company, and the F6 Sports Investment Firm, is willing to take a stake in Liverpool of up to 50 per cent for a fee in the region of £200-350 million.

The high-profile nature of his reported interest, which began on Friday night with a news item on television in Saudi Arabia, has taken the Liverpool hierarchy aback, particularly Gillett who invited Prince Faisal to Merseyside as his guest to open negotiations about proposed Nascar and Liverpool academy initiatives in the Middle East. Gillett is holding talks with a number of interested parties at present and, as yet, there is still to be an official approach from Prince Faisal or any other members of the Saudi Royal Family.

In the past two years, Hicks and Gillett have entertained a number of potential investors at Anfield, but a deal is yet to materialise and The Times understands that Gillett held talks with another interested party in London last night.

Gillett’s visit to Merseyside was not without controversy as members of the Spirit Of Shankly (SOS) fans group, which has long been opposed to his and Hicks’s regime, protested against the American ownership of Liverpool at the club’s Melwood training ground.

An attempt to stage a similar protest at Anfield during the Hull game was stifled when flags and banners criticising Hicks and Gillett were seized by Merseyside Police shortly after they were unfurled in the Kop stand.
