Yet another cock measuring contest in the yanks tedious power battle, and a chance for some free publicity for the latest Arab chancer looking to get involved in football.

There are no words to describe how much I despise the yanks, they just don't understand us or our culture, and continue to whore us around the world to anyone who is insane enough to deal with them.

Saudi prince in talks to buy share of Liverpool FC

(AFP) – 2 hours ago

RIYADH — A Saudi prince is negotiating to buy a stake in Liverpool Football Club, his office said on Sunday, in a deal the media said could be worth as much as 350 million pounds (559 million dollars).

Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah, a businessman based in Al-Khobar in eastern Saudi Arabia, is currently discussing the deal with the owners of Liverpool, Azhari Kowa, a spokesman for the prince's Fama Group, told AFP.

"Prince Faisal is in London now discussing the purchase," Kowa said, without elaborating.

Al-Riyadh newspaper reported earlier on Sunday that the prince was negotiating with the heavily-indebted English club's US owners for a 50-percent stake.

"It is going to be finalised soon. It will cost us 200 to 350 million pounds (319-559 million dollars)," he said, according to Al-Riyadh.

Prince Faisal told the paper that Liverpool was saddled with 245 million pounds (391 million dollars) in debt.

Kowa said that the prince has signed a memorandum of understanding on Saturday with Liverpool on setting up football academies in Saudi Arabia and North Africa.

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks insisted in February 2008 that he was not planning to sell his stake in the club, at the time knocking down newspaper reports in Britain.

Hicks owns 50-percent of Liverpool with the other half of the club's shares controlled by his American business partner George Gillett, amid reports the two have fallen out.

The American owners in the summer renegotiated the club's debt with the Royal Bank of Scotland, believed to be 290 million pounds, and have extended it for another year.

It's bollocks. It's the equivalent of Gillett saying to Hicks 'na na, look at my rich friends, what are you going to do'.

One or both want out and they can't do anything without the other's blessing, so Gillett is trying to put the squeeze on Hicks, who is leveraged up to his eyeballs.

Pair of shamless cunts.

I had to come in here just to see who the hell Zammo is ?! Welcome mate.

Unfortunately at this stage fo the proceedings I don't have any option but to agree with, I think it was, Bunny who said we are whores until we get sold and that will only happen if the terrible twins get their pound of flesh too. In the meantime I hope they can find someone to invest and we can get the bloody new stadium started.

This is something I've also been mulling over for a while.

I too despise the Yanks for the lies they've told and the promises they've broken.

BUt let's be clear about this point tho; we are being run better commercially and we're definitely being marketed better.

And a main reason for that is because the Yanks have no hangups about who they think we are.

We're a business though and throughn now; and I think it's something we shold have been prepared for when they came on board.

*shrugs*

Dear me, a remedial kid could market us better. All this 'commercial' stuff is just geared to getting a higher price. It's obvious they can't stand each other and want out but will cling on or risk losing money. It's got nothing to do with any long term strategy about 'who they think we are'.

If you think we're just a business then you just don't understand us or football in general.

I don't want that monstrosity built. I don't want any legacy of their tenure, and thankfully I've got nothing to worry about in that regard. They never had any intention to build it, or at least after their honeymoon period was over and they realised what a fuck up they'd made.

the stadium design was great.

The Airport one?

Yeah, design the biggest, flashiest, obscure stadium ever to brainwash the natives and give them time to scour the Middle East trying to offload us for a huge profit.

yeah. i liked the design.

Welcome Zammo.
I thought the design was ace, needs to be that size to allow for further development. We have got loads of OOTers that will want tickets when the Arabs own us.

Looks like David Byrne is back.

Anyway, you havent read my post if you think I share the Yanks views.

My point is we should have seen this coming once we sold to suits.

IF the arabs come in I'd assume they'll stick with the current design etc (even the car park underneath with about 2 spaces or whatever it is)

someone make this zammo's avatar

I've lost interest in the all of the ownership, stadium and investment issues.

It either gets sorted or it doesn't. I'll stick to the football in the meantime.

That's the spirit. It's not like you have any real connection to the club anyway.

You enjoy standing at the airport yelling obscenities at them with your SOS pals... or do you just stick to getting angry over the Internet?
