Aquilani..

He's a really decent player and will improve us in no time.

I understand the 'give him time posts' but he's going to instantly improve our midfield because, whatever circumstances he's playing in, he's a better footballer than Lucas Leiva.
[/quote]

you have to be Salif Diao to be worse than lucas.

He's about a couple of weeks off to full fitness. He won't play against Manure. Its Lucas and Mascher and lets all pray we defeat them.

Having said that, doesn't matter if we win on Sunday, Rafael out!

So about a quarter of the way through the season, 4 points behind the Mancs, and he just achieved victory over the league leaders with a injury hit team... sack him anyway.

You are a fucking joke. If G&H sacked Rafa after beating the Mancs, there'd be unbelievable uproar, everywhere. And who would be answering the question "why on earth have you done this?". It'd be owners who don't communicate, are almost universally reviled, and are actively seeking the most profitable fire exit. It'd be a disaster, and who the fuck would want it other than no names who are willing to tolerate it for a step up.

What does it say to a prospective manager that if you bring us to our best league season in years, you get fired a quarter of the way through the next, having just beaten the league leader, and having been unable thus far to field your best team.

There are far better examples of managers who have won the league but still got the sack end of the season. Rafael's has been pretty much relax and this season nothing's going to stop him from getting the sack or he himself throw in the towel and fucking go.

Injury hit team?? So all now because of an injury to two of our most important player who just missed out one fucking CL game?? ??

Do you just watch all of Rafa's press conferences over and over and over until his lies, bullshit and pathetic excuses are burned into your brain so that when you speak it's actually Rafa's words that come out?? ?? Fucking hell!!

You're completely clueless. i suggest you just start looking for a new club immediately so that you and Rafa have somewhere to go when he leaves Liverpool. Good girl. You should apply for a job on Rafael's staff. I'm sure he needs a chief bullshit artist in his cabinet.

Welcome back Brendan.

Haha, love that Brendan. Off to see the Arsenal game next week, hoping Aquilani gets some time on the pitch and shows what he is capable of.

If nothing else, our most expensive signing of the summer is playing again, and that alone should give some much needed positivity around here. I hope he has the same effect on the first team squad, they could do with a shot in the arm.

Oh god its sexy, but after Lyon I think as soon as we play a less important game or a weaker team (next week in CC even) we will see the Skrtel/Agger partnership. I am excited for that too. We could have some might fine partnerships in the next 2 years; Skrtel/Agger, Masch/Aqua, Torres/Gerrard. Yossi and Kuyt being good goalscoring wide Forwards. I really can't wait till that team gets picked.

I think Riera being completely locked out appearances has been a travesty and I hope to see him again soon, if not sunday.

Yeah, that's probably our best team - with one exception. I still think Aurelio on form is better than Insua on form.

I've dropped Gerrard for Aquilani on the old fantasy football.

The last 15 minute hat trick should do my points this weekend no harm!

I've just put him in my fantasy football team as well so looks like he's going to turn both my teams season round 🙂

Riera is injured.

Alberto Aquilani desperate to make Liverpool debut following first reserves outing

Alberto Aquilani is itching to make his first-team debut after making his Liverpool bow for the reserves.

The £20million summer signing came on for the final 15 minutes of the second string's 2-0 win over Sunderland at Tranmere's Prenton Park last night and was delighted to pull on finally a Liverpool shirt.

Aquilani has been out since last season with an ankle injury and is targeting his first appearance for Rafa Benitez's senior side.

"It was a good day for me because I have not played for six or seven months," said the Italian international.

"I have to do more good work with the medical staff. I'm happy with 15 minutes and it's important for my confidence.

"I can't wait to make my debut for the first team now.

"Like every other player, I want to be playing, but the important thing for me now is to keep improving my fitness."

He has only been for about a week only, look at these page's stats its stunning.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/gamelog?id=11729&cc=5901

Albert Riera was the key that unlocked our form (through balance) last year he was the real difference compare to the year before that and Dirk Kuyt being on form early in the season. This year with Yossi on song so early, we really need to rotate all three of these guys in keep them fresh and firing. One problem is that none of them are pacey at all. We need to add genuine pace to our team this January. In three positions preferably; a wing forward, a central midfielder (it freezes Lucas out of the side, which is what I want unlike the man in charge), and a striker. None of em will probably happen but gosh do we need them, just fatten up our depth, as far as the premier league goes we're only like 14 deep, for CL its a little more thanks to time given on the ball.
