Aquilani comments on future

We've been fucking mugged off big time by Juventus.

Hope we never deal with them again.

It's left us with one quality player who's adapted to the prem with aplomb looking as though he'll be sacked off to save funds to for a half-crocked talented player who would clearly rather play in another country.

I'd pick ming over Aqua every time.

You're right we have been mugged off. I don't see why we can't keep them both, we need the strength in depth and competition for places.

JJ you're being deliberately obtuse, I suppose to to with your clear bias on this player. Set it aside and look at the injury record of the player. His problem wasn't to do with the particular demands of a particular league, but to do with a body that was breaking down (in any league!) So the fact that he had a season free from any significant injury worries (his first such season in many years) tells us "much" about his body, and that his recurrent injury problems seem to be in the past. This is an issue that has precisely nothing to do with the premier league.
 
From memory is wasn't just injuries, but a questionable attitude (three "viruses" in a year) as well.


He did play well against Portsmouth though.

I don't want any player who wants to be elsewhere. You call that "bias" because you like him and have nailed your colours to that particular mast. I'll let others judge which of us is really guilty on that charge.

If he plays in the Prem with any regularity, that will place greater demands on his body than he'll have ever faced before, including during the season just finished by which you place so much store. That injury-free season has some significance, but I said as much above. What I'm questioning, as well you know, is whether it has as much significance as you claim it does for us in this league. If you seriously think that's not relevant, again I'll leave others to judge which of us is right.

Surely Aqua's desire to be elsewhere was borne out of the fact that we showed him that we didn't want him by farming him out on loan and so mitigates him to a degree. It's a different club now, so the slate should be wiped clean.
 
It's possible, but I very much doubt it. If that were the case he'd now be saying so himself. Gabriele Marcotti was talking about him on TalkSport the other week and was very clear that he still wants to go home.
 
He wants to go home and he'll want to play in European Championships next summer.

It doesn't really make sense for him to stay at Liverpool and I think he'll be off to Napoli or somewhere like that.
 
Yeah I think he'll go Keni, I do like him though and there's certainly a case for keeping someone of his quality, but if there's a buyer for a good price, I'd rather him go than Raul.
 
To be fair if you're Aqua, why would you want you come back?

We made it clear to him we didn't want him by sending him out on loan, he ant back to Italy, played well, got back in the national squad. And would know the reason for him ending up at Liverpool would be cos no one else wanted him rather than he's a big part of our plans.

The representative of Liverpool’s Alberto Aquilani has dismissed suggestions of a move to Fiorentina.

Aquilani is keen to stay in Italy after Juventus opted against buying him outright following his loan spell last season.

Fiorentina have been associated with a bid, but Franco Zavaglia is surprised by the reports of Viola interest.

“There is no negotiation going on with Fiorentina,” Zavaglia told TMW on Monday. “They’ve not even asked me about him.

“These stories are just rumours. Aquilani’s future at this moment in time is Liverpool and he will be staying with them.”

The Italian international midfielder’s €3.3m a season salary also seem to be out of Fiorentina’s economical parameters.

Last thing Fiorentina are looking at is signing Aquilani.

Right now, Man United are trying to poach 6 top talents from the Fiorentina U16 side >🙁

Fiorentina's policy is mostly built around bringing talent through their academy combined with cheap pick ups in the market - none of which Aquilani fits.

We can´t sell Poulsen or Aquilani due to their wages. We will never sell Lucas (sadly). Aquilani won´t be first choice as we have bought Adam.

Manchester City target Liverpool midfielder

According to reports Manchester City are interested in Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani.

Caughtoffside.com claims City boss Roberto Mancini is eyeing the Liverpool player who has been on loan with Italian club Juventus.

It is believed that City will look to make an offer for the Italian international who has impressed for the struggling Serie A giants.

The 27-year-old joined Liverpool at the tail-end of Rafael Benitez’ reign at Anfield but failed to make an impression after returning from injury.

It is unclear whether new boss Kenny Dalglish sees Aquilani in his long-term plans and it seems Mancini is ready to judge the Scot’s mood with a move for £12 million-rated Italian.

Serie A clubs Fiorentina and AC Milan are also believed to be interested.
