Eriksen saved Denmark's arse, again, that was his 7th goal in the qualifiers, and after a long and truly average start of the campaign we are now actually in a pretty decent position.

A win at home in the last game against Romania would see us through to the play-offs where we'd be amongst the seeded teams avoiding the likes of Italy and Portugal.

Sweden, as always, would be a tricky draw however.

Not what I've seen KHL, it l;ooks very much as if Denmark will be one of the lowest ranked teams (even behind Sweden 🙂 for the play off draw.

It looks like Wales, Portugal, Italy and Croatia will be 1st seeds and Sweden, Denmark, Norn Iron and Greece.

If Ireland finish ahead of Wales, Norn Iron will become a 1st seed (and Ireland will be 2nd seed*). If Ukraine edge out Croatia (and Ireland edge out Wales) then Sweden will get a 1st seed berth.

A potential Northern Ireland v Ireland play off game would be "lively".

Glad the Welsh are out. I want to like them but their fans are amazingly bitter towards England so fuck them.

Winks was better than Dier and Henderson and should start. He wasn't amazing but at least he played forwards and made good runs.

Iceland proved yet again they punch above their weight. England were widely mocked for losing to them but it wouldn't surprise me if they caused no end of problems at the Word Cup.

We have Salah entering his peak years (yes, he could be converting more chances, but he is still getting goals) and Mane playing the best football of his life.. yet we have a defence, GK and a couple of CMs in plateaus/ lacking confidence. What a frustrating mix of form in the team!

I can't wait to watch Egypt in the World Cup now - may have to get a Salah shirt.

Ah, cheers for that KHL. With Wales out then that would seem to give Denmark a top seeding. I'm kinda hoping Portugal can stuff Switzerland tonight so that the Swiss end up in the playoffs rather than Portugal. If the top seeds were Italy, Denmark, Switzerland and Norn Iron then I reckon Ireland have a 50/50 shot of progressing to the world cup.
