The Tage has tweeted about this aswell. Yaayy!! Now it must be true...
He claims the capacity will be 66.000

yeah, just seen that. i reckon that more or less tallies with what's possible from redevelopment of anny rd and the main stand. just speculating, obviously, but to me the thing to do would be to knock down everything but the AR lower tier (would mean demolishing the main stand and the TIA sign etc, but the rumours seem to suggest the MS will be coming down so i'm running with that). i'd then build 2 proper new tiers on the AR stand, with 2 rows of boxes, to give a 3 tier stand, with around 3000 seats in each new tier, which would make a new AR capacity of approx 13,000. you could then use that stand as the model for the new main stand, which, taking into account the ratio of pitch length to width (say 1:0.65), would hold around 20,000 (north stand old trafford holds 25k as a reference).
ok, so so far that would give a new capacity of (45,000 + 20,000 + 13,000 - 12,000 - 9,000) of 57,000. filling in the corner to complete the 'bowl' (i know a lot of people hate that but to me it'd be the only way of getting such a big increase in capacity from only 2 stands) would give another 8,000 seats or so and get close to the 66k claimed capacity.
it'd be a bit like what they've done at st james park, which personally is my favourite redevelopment in football, although hopefully the new stands wouldn't be quite so out of proportion. i think whatever happens, though, the kop is going to end up being dwarfed a bit in terms of height, because i just can't see any way they can expand that; the idea of raising the angle would seem to be really expensive for the amount of seats they might be able to squeeze in, which seems pretty minimal to me.
anyway, just my 2 cents. be interesting to see if i get any of this shit right.
