[article]Kenny Dalglish admits he could not be prouder of the impact fellow Scot Andy Robertson has made at Liverpool.

The left-back took his time convincing boss Jurgen Klopp he could cut it at Anfield after sealing an £8million switch from Hull last summer.

But since breaking into the German’s line-up just before Christmas, the 24-year-old has gone on to establish himself as a firm Kop favourite with a string of energetic displays.

With a Champions League semi-final showdown against Roma to look forward to next week, Robertson is now hoping to emulate the achievements of countrymen Dalglish, Alan Hansen and Graeme Souness, who won a hat-trick of European Cups during the Reds’ halcyon days in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

That would complete a remarkable rise for a player who just five years ago was plying his trade with Queen’s Park in Scotland’s Third Division – and Dalglish believes the former Dundee United prospect deserves every accolade coming his way.

The former Liverpool favourite told the Scottish FA: “Andy has been fantastic ever since he came in to the team. I’m sure he was man of the match on his debut.

“Everyone in Scotland should be very, very proud of him.

“You only need to come to a game to sense the respect the punters have for him.

“They really enjoy watching Andy and he has his own chant already, which I know means a lot to him.

“Andy’s a quality player. He has pace, his final ball is excellent and he plays with his heart on his sleeve.

“It gives me a lot of satisfaction to see him flying the flag for Scotland.”[/article]

Hes hit some brilliant crosses, the one against Watford was the pick of them for me. That said its remarkable how few of them were converted.

I love this guy....but i also have a belief that he brings luck to our team...dont know why but his attitude just makes me happy and thin we aint gonna lose this game.

It was becoming easy to forget how useful he is to our side going forwards, and dependable in defence until you see Moreno against fucking West Brom. They tore him apart and he didn't make it past the half way line on a number of occasions that you would expect Robbo to be legging it up for the overlap.

He's pushing Milner super hard in my favourite player stakes.

He actually reminds me of Milner alot, I've said it a few times. Just everything about him - delivery, sheer grit, attitude. He's brilliant. They both are.

Between him, Trent, Salah, Milner and Mane I actually like some of our players for the first time in ages
Agree totally.
Last time I liked our last this much was the team that had Henchoz, Hyppia, Hamman, Carragher, Babbel, McCallister, Smicer, Berger etc

Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say
But nothing comes out when they move their lips
Just a bunch of gibberish
And motherfuckers act like they forgot about Bob

Soz

I thought you were so much older than me ... and yet you're quoting Slim ... impressive.

[article]A leading Italian newspaper believes that Andy Robertson's Glasgow roots 'explain everything' about his excellent performance in Liverpool's resounding Champions League semi-final win over Roma.

The left-back played a full 90 minutes as the Reds routed the Serie A outfit 5-2 in the first leg at Anfield to take a big step towards the final.

And Gazzetta dello Sport heaped praise on the former Hull City and Dundee United defender in their player ratings while giving him a rating of 6.5/10.

The newspaper was impressed by the energy and tenacity of the 24-year-old and pointed to his birthplace as an explanation.

"He represents the spirit of Anfield," said the paper.

"He does not possess technique of the highest level, but he runs like he's possessed and is never afraid.

"He dominated (Cengiz) Under, who was almost frightened by the energy of the Scotsman.

"He was born in Glasgow and this explains everything."[/article]

[article]KIERAN TIERNEY insists he is living out his dream despite watching Scotland team-mate Andy Robertson shine in the Champions League.

Robertson – Tierney’s main rival for the left-back spot at international level – was part of the Liverpool side that beat Roma 5-2 in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

It could easily have been Tierney flourishing on that stage, with the Celtic man regularly linked with moves to some of the biggest sides in England.

Tierney said: “It was a massive, massive game.

“It’s a Champions League semi-final and he did brilliant.

“It was a great performance from him and he’s been great this season, he deserves to be there, but for me when I was younger, it was Celtic.

“If you want to play in the Champions League you play in it with Celtic and that’s just the way it has been for me.

“All I really think about is Celtic.”

On his relationship with Robertson, he added: “He will message me after some big games if we win and I will message him as well.

“We know each other from the Scotland trips and he’s a Celtic fan as well!”

Tierney is nominated for the SFA Young Player of the Year award having won it the previous two seasons, while Scott Brown and James Forrest are up for the main award.

Brown was recently named Celtic’s Player of the Year.

The full-back said: “I voted Broony (for the club awards) just because of how much of a captain he is and how much of a leader he is.

“I think he is inspirational for Celtic. What does he not do? He can do anything.

“He’s great on the ball, he’s great off the ball, he works hard for the team and gives it everything he’s got.

“For me as a young player… he’s a role model and someone I really look up to.”[/article]

Moreno continues to get worse by the day.
If we don’t bring in a new left back as cover for Robertson, I really hope there’s a youth player that can take Moreno’s place.
