I really like Moreno. He's young, but he has bags of potential and runs tirelessly. He is playing a position that will always invite accusations of positional naivety, precisely because he's tasked to push up and put the opposition on the back foot. If we lose possession whilst he's up the field he is 'naive'. I agree with Rurik that his offensive play is better than he's given credit for, and playing more with his team mates will only improve their shared understanding.
The change of formation has as much to do with our Fbs inability to defend as it did with the lack of a good striker.
Moreno looks decent in possession but the other 98% of his game leave a lot to be desired.
If there isn't a sharp improvement in his defensive work in the next year then it may not ever come - in the same way it never did with Johnson
