And here's another question...

The fact that Moreno is 3yrs younger my answer is no.

Moreno needs to just believe in himself more, his default position is to hesitate, that is worse than making a decision.

I think Moreno doesn't offer much really. He's positionally poor defensively and makes poor decisions attacking. At this moment in time I'd say Bertrand is the better player.

For the system we are currently playing, Moreno pace is vital.

Part of the reason why Enrique/Johnson look so useless

For me, on the attacking front, Moreno's main flaw is that he totally avoids using his right foot. There have been many times over the season when he'd probably have been able to make a faster pass, or used his pace, switched directions and cut inside an opponent with one move if he would just use his right foot. At the very least, he'd at least not have slowed things down by waiting for the ball to sit nicely on his left foot before pressing ahead. I'm more frustrated by this than his inconsistent final product or his attacking instincts leaving him out of position (because Sakho is boss in sweeping up behind him, but yeah Moreno should improve on that). I'm not expecting absolutely two-footed beauty here, but geez, he could really use some improvement there.

Still, I'm happier with Moreno than Enrique or - HA! - Cissokho - HA! - though, so well, that's a good start. Flanagan returning to fitness (whenever) should add a bit more competition and also give us a defender who will be more solid at the back.

If we're persisting with the wingbacks then I'm glad we have Moreno, otherwise I'm not so sure Bertrand wouldn't be a better option.

Moreno has more going forward and he's faster but he has a Riise-like fear of using his right foot.

Moreno is decent but he's not great yet. In a year's time when he's settled in i think he'll look fantastic

Moreno crossing is piss poor at the moment...

He has a touch of the Drossena's when it comes to crossing the ball.. Last night he was awful

Touch of Dossena? Are you serious? Thats an awful comparison. His crossing is nothing like Dossenas.

We're comparing a 22 year old with 6 months experience in the Premier league and 13 games with a 25 year old who has played in England all his life with about 80 games in the PL and more in the Championship. Its not that straightforward.

Short term, maybe Bertrand is better so far this season in terms of stability.
Long term, Moreno has the potential to be twice the player Bertrand is imho.

So given that he's adapting to a new league he's doing well.
Some very good performances and some not so good - as expected.

I would sign Moreno over Bertrand any day of the week.

ive no doubt he will come good.. he was just hasn't been too good over his last few games..

hopefully he will turn that around...

On current form yes (the sending off at the weekend was bery harsh). Potential wise, I've no idea, but Moreno's defending has been worrying at times

Bertrand is ahead of Moreno, but I have still have fairly high hopes for our guy. At the very least he should be as good as Riise, which I'd be OK with, I guess.

Moreno is a newbie in a team only just finding it's feet so I'm sure he'll improve as his confidence increases. Bertrand has the advantage of greater experience but I think Moreno has the tools to compete. Currently he doesn't quite do enough and I think that's down to not wanting to make mistakes more than a lack of ability.

I don't get the Moreno buzz.

Yes he overlaps and has pace but he does fuck all with it

I thought his crossing was fine, the problem was there was nobody on the far post. I like that he crosses with pace, not the useless "floating" crosses we were used to from the likes of Pennant or Downing. I also like that he often makes a pass instead of crossing and has the ability to pick out a teammate in the crowded penalty area or just outside.

My worry with Moreno is on the defensive end. He just looks so incredibly naive at times. At the moment he is our worst FB when it comes to defending; even Markovic is more solid.

Agree with all of that though I can't help but enjoy his naive attempts at cutting out balls.

Bertrand is better. I would have signed him in the summer. I said as much.

Moreno hopefully improves. But, he is looking like a speed merchant with little much else to his game. Awful positioning, lapses in concentration, can't cross at all, can't even take a ball with his right foot. After speed the next best thing is he is an aggressive and successful tackler. I hope he comes good but we are paying for having him in our team.

For the record I don't know how you say Moreno has more upside. Bertrand is very quick, very solid defender and pretty good going forward. I was baffled by the reaction to him. It was almost like people forgot we got our star striker off the Chelsea bench. The fact that he had a run in that team and was given his Champions League debut in the final does say enough. I never understood people treating him like a QPR player or sumat.
