Well, quite - depending on results and progress. But how do you calibrate those things? You can't say that and then declare it would be idiotic to get rid of a manager - it clearly wouldn't be on your own terms if the desired results and progress are not met. But what specifically do you mean by 'results and progress'? League positions? Games won? Games won and drawn? Critical reviews? Crowd mood? How do you propose to monitor them and judge these results and progress? With all due respect, that's way too vague.

Finishing higher than 8th this season will be progress. 6th would be very good imho.

Next season we have to be a contender for 4th. That means getting 68-70 points.
The last 3 seasons we've gotten 63,58 and 52. 6th, 7th and 8th.

Getting out of that downward spirral will be progress.

With the amount of money we've spent and we'll probably spend a fair bit in the summer aswell.
4th should be the target next season and not being 12 points behind with 12 games to go.

If we continue to increase our points tally and finish higher in the league we're making progress imho.

Well, last season we reached two cup finals as well. A seventh and no cup runs cant be reckoned as progress on 8th and two cup finals?

It's all gone pear-shaped for FSG with the Red Sox which Henry has blamed on them departing from their 'model'. They've done exactly the same in appointing Rodgers and there's nothing so far to suggest that it's working here either.

Rodgers is doing ok but personally I want overachievement. Until we have a manager that can bring that we are never going to do anything other than try and scramble around for 4th place.

We're not talking about huge leaps and bounds, no, but the way we finished seventh last year was atrocious. The second half of the season we were in huge decline; if the season started in January we would have been relegated, and you had to question whether Kenny had it in him to rectify the situation. It's also worth noting that the owners would never have backed Kenny and Comolli again so that relationship had to end.

This year anyone with any sense expected a mixed bag of a season, that's what we're getting, so whining about it now just seems impatient. I'm not defending Rodgers to the hilt, there's lot he can do better and lots he needs to learn sharpish - but I don't think we're performing below expectations. The glimmers of hope are a willingness to attack, Sturridge, the up turn in Suarez's form/finishing, Henderson and Enrique, and signings like Coutinho. The concerns are the midfield set-up, an error prone defense and a general lack of nous and bottle to close matches out.

We need to see how Rodgers addresses these issues over the summer before we leap to damning conclusions.
