Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti was reportedly the subject of enquiries from Liverpool and Manchester City towards the end of last year.
Ancelotti appears to be on his way out of PSG at the end of the season as the likes of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho continue to be linked with summer moves to the Parc de Princes.
And according to French newspaper Le Parisien, both Liverpool and Man City considered making a move for the Italian last November.
The report comes as pressure grows on City boss Roberto Mancini following their lacklustre title defence in the Premier League this season, although whether Liverpool's owners, FSG, are already becoming frustrated with Brendan Rodgers' performance in the Anfield hotseat remains to be seen.
Ancelotti has hinted at a move away from Paris, and on Tuesday admitted he would jump at the chance to take charge of Real Madrid as speculation continues about how much longer Mourinho will be in charge at the Bernabeu.
"I don't think there is a single coach in the world who could say no to a club like Real Madrid," the former AC Milan coach told TVE.
"It would be very difficult to turn something like that down. All I can say for now, though is that I am happy at PSG at the moment."
