Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti was reportedly the subject of enquiries from Liverpool and Manchester City towards the end of last year.

Ancelotti appears to be on his way out of PSG at the end of the season as the likes of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho continue to be linked with summer moves to the Parc de Princes.

And according to French newspaper Le Parisien, both Liverpool and Man City considered making a move for the Italian last November.

The report comes as pressure grows on City boss Roberto Mancini following their lacklustre title defence in the Premier League this season, although whether Liverpool's owners, FSG, are already becoming frustrated with Brendan Rodgers' performance in the Anfield hotseat remains to be seen.

Ancelotti has hinted at a move away from Paris, and on Tuesday admitted he would jump at the chance to take charge of Real Madrid as speculation continues about how much longer Mourinho will be in charge at the Bernabeu.

"I don't think there is a single coach in the world who could say no to a club like Real Madrid," the former AC Milan coach told TVE.

"It would be very difficult to turn something like that down. All I can say for now, though is that I am happy at PSG at the moment."

Definitely not.

We've opted to hire a young, ambitious manager who was going to build something for the long-term. There's clearly problems, but they were to be expected this year, and considering replacements is remarkably premature.

I'd have been OK with hiring Ancelotti when we were still looking for a new manager, but we have to give Rodgers a proper chance now.

I would like to point out that my happiness with Ancelotti doesn't have anything to do with Rodgers. i just like him and what he stands for, and the way he presented himself here in England was with integrity.

Sorry young and ambitious he is, Liverpool manager material he is not..

His only saving grace is winning the Europa League, so we can maintain European football next season, otherwise he has to go..

No European football next season, is yet anther step backwards..

Difference being, he regularly sacks managers just after the win him a trophy. He sacked one after winning the double, another after winning the European Cup. We sack ours because they show no signs of winning anything, or getting us in the top 4.

Not for me.

I actually believe signing a young, upcoming manager, with ideas, like Rodgers is the right approach really.

Whether Rodgers is the right man is yet to be seen, but the approach, I am all for.

I'm not, and never was, but the decision's been made now and I'm not convinced yet another change of direction in such a short space of time would be worth it.

I'd be very happy with him. I wish Rodgers would work with him, he's in the wrong role at the wrong time, which is a shame and isn't his fault.

Whose fault it is doesn't matter.

But this is a crucial stage for rodgers. And being as bold as not working with a DoF i.e. shows that he is a lonesome traveller. In his age and with his experience working together with a reasonable DoF could actually done him well. If he has to leave Liverpool after 1 year he might actually be better of than leaving after 20 months of no show of progress. Then he would probably have to wait a long long time before a big club come after him again.

No to Ancelotti. No to sacking Rodgers.

Yet another short term solution and we should give the current manager some time.

How much time? Two seasons? Even if...what? You don't just hand someone the license to keep going no matter what. Let's bring some focus to this.

The way things are going we are going to be the Next Aston Villa.. This is what worries me..

I'd give Brendan Two seasons regardless. Changing all the time is not helping us.

Even though i'm not particularly happy with rodgers, i at least think he deserves until xmas. he deserves this summer to fully implement his ideas. They'll be no excuses after that. If by xmas we're still in the same position i think he should go. Can't afford to wait two whole seasons.

At least 2 seasons, maybe 3. All depending on results and progress.
Have we made any progress this season? Yes imho.
3 goals behind last years total with 12 games to go. 12 games to win 16 points and achieve a higher points total than last season, and we'll probably finish higher than 8th.
If Rodgers manages that then this season can be labelled as progress.
We have at times played some brilliant football and the team/key individuals look very happy with Rodgers approach.
From the last 13 games we've picked up more points in total than we have in 4 years time - that shows progress.

We also have some glaring big holes that needs adressing and I want Rodgers to get the chance to do that.
Next season will be vital in terms of our problems this season and the squad he's building. IF we continue to make the same mistakes then Rodgers has a lot to answer for.

Changing manager again is idiotic. For years our squad have been bloated with average players earning high wages. We now have cleaned it up a bit and look younger, healthier and in total a better squad.
We still have some issues that needs adressing, but most of the shite high earners/average cunts are out.

So, Rodgers gets at least one more season. But the stakes will be much higher next season and he has to show that he and the team are learning from our mistakes this season.

We're building something - but patience is required.

.

Well, quite - depending on results and progress. But how do you calibrate those things? You can't say that and then declare it would be idiotic to get rid of a manager - it clearly wouldn't be on your own terms if the desired results and progress are not met. But what specifically do you mean by 'results and progress'? League positions? Games won? Games won and drawn? Critical reviews? Crowd mood? How do you propose to monitor them and judge these results and progress? With all due respect, that's way too vague. It's more or less like saying, 'I'll give him two more years depending on how things go'. I'm honestly not trying to wind anyone up, I just think these assertions don't mean as much as people seem think.
