I still harbor thoughts that a great manager would come in and turn this squad into something great quickly. I put Rafa, Maureen, Klopp, and Van Gaal in here (minus his willy out).

I don't want to turn this into an Anti Rodgers thread, or another Rafa thread. I think the man needs one more season for his project to come to fruition.

But, that aside, Yes or no - you think a better more experienced manager could have us in the CL next season?

You have seen what Rafa has done at Inter and Chelsea, two CL winning teams when he took them over? That ship left the harbor a long time ago.

Mourinho won't come here - we don't have money or a squad that is a few extra motivational speeches away from a title.

Kloop is staying in Germany for a long time.

Van Gaal won't leave his national team job.

Rodgers will be a more experienced manager next season - so yes, one has to believe that if the league is at this level next year, we can make the CL next year with him at the helm.

It's a hypothetical question Le Tal. Would a results oriented Ancellotti type deliver the goods...

*resists Rafa debate*

I think our manager will get us into the champions league next season.
And I think this thread is bullshit.
BULLSHIT!

Come on Local, Rafa is in the past people tend to only remember the good times and that's great for nostalgia, just like with Kenny, it does not do to go back , let's just leave it there and give Rodgers a fair chance eh?

Regards

It's not a rafa thread and I do agree Vlad.

Of course I am giving more time - but I wondered if others harbored the belief a more seasoned gaffer might get this team into the CL immediately. It's only going to get harder year after year as the likes of Suarez et al move on. We may want a quick fix next year if he doesn't start well - to be nothing but honest.

Yeah localny, they would.

But I'm also sure that if Mr Rodgers was given the mandate to get into the CL immediately, with no no longer term in mind, he would be able to do it too.

Rafa apperantly in a bust up with several players. Will he last the season?

Of course this would happen ... It happened at Inter too (forget Materazzi) -

I would be ok with Arsenal making the CL (keeps Wenger for another year) if it meant Chelsea weren't in the tournament.

Mohandas K Gandhi could be manager of Chelsea and he'd have a bust up with several players. They're a gang of cunts at Chelsea, used to running their mouths off and 'sticking it to the man'. That would be the case whoever was in charge.

Jose is probably the only manager capable of making us challenge and no chance of that so end of the debate.

I was going to say something similar. In my opinion we were not looking for a quick fix, and I agree with that view. We could have gone for one, and people would probably have been happier in the short term, but I want us to challenge consistently for the title for the next decade, not just qualify for the champions league for a season or two.

Getting a quick fix would only lead us back to where we were last season, with too many ageing and overpaid players.

If I take away the utter tripe he spouts and focus on the football then he may well get us there next season. Then I think if the players have to listen to his spouting of drivel management speak and 3 envelopes, wanting us to be like steaks etc.. then I fear the players will just go fuck off you tool and lose interest in him...

What he says to the media and what he says in the dressing room are two different things though.
The players seem very happy with him.
