I think Glen Johnson is better defensively at LB then at RB but better at attacking at RB then at LB. I for one would be perfectly happy to have Glen Johnson at LB back for the year. He is fine at LB because he is good with his left foot, more than good enough to clear with it. Depending on where you see Martin Kelly playing I think we need to cover the position he doesn't play this year with a purchase.
 
Maybe if Johnson plays at LB long enough he can be as good as Lahm and Maldini, i.e 2 right footed players playing at LB. 🙂
 
Lahm and Maldini is a two footed player unlike Johnson. Johnson is best playing as wing back or right wing . Kelly needs to start at right back and Enrique at left back.


Don't also forget Zambrotta. One of the greatest versatile player of all time. Underrated.
 
Johnson seems quite good with his left foot too; not as good as Lahm and Maldini but still sufficiently good. Oh and yah, Zambrotta is a great player. Wished we signed him previously.

He can't cross with well his left though. Most of the time, he seems to need to check back to his right to cross.
I feel that his attacking game on the left suffers due to this. Agree with Shelvey above - better defender on the left but better attacker on the right.

The ONLY poster on here who didnt rate Italian football (in particular their Golden Generation Madini, Pirlo, Totti, Zambrotta, Nesta, Viera, Del Piero etc) was Brendan, who historically used the 'What have they won' argument when belittling a player but clammed up when faced with the long list of awards that entire team has won.

We've heard similar things from Villa and Blackpool though, maybe we're allowing interest to be generated through the press without jumping in head first with a bid, then when the selling club starts to get anxious, that's when we're pouncing. Who knows.
 
Yep, agreed mate. Same thing could be said about Enrique and N'Castle. We're waiting for them to get anxious and want this resolved.

I'm guessing either Enrique or Cissokho will be our new full back. Perreira is probably to expencive.
