MK Dons teenager Dele Alli has revealed that he wants to replicate his hero Steven Gerrard by scoring his first international goal against Germany.

England Under-19s take on Germany in Dusseldorf on Monday evening and Liverpool fan Alli sees the encounter as the perfect opportunity to emulate Gerrard.

"It's something I have been thinking about," Alli told the Daily Mail.

"I've had a few chances when I've been playing for England and I feel like they've been easy chances, but I've just been messing up so I can't wait to get off the mark. I am actually a Liverpool fan and Gerrard is someone I look up to massively.

"If the ball drops for me on Monday like it did for him against Germany, I'm smashing it. If I get the goal I'll obviously be happy but the win is all that matters."

Alli, 18, has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Liverpool in recent weeks.

He's a freak of nature, specialising in a range of fine prepared meats and cheeses whilst losing body fat at a dramatic rate.

Floats like a butterfly.
Stings like a bee.
He's whooring himself out for Rodgers to see.

He's a very good CM and at only 17, bosses the Scum in the 4-0 demolition. Very mature for his age. We need to snap him up ASAP before others make an offer.

Sending a batsignal to @Pesam
He came up on a thread last week and I mentioned that I hadn't seen him enough to evaluate him. I had seen him fleetingly 3 or 4 times before I saw him play against the Scum in the 4-0 win and he certainly looks a talent. However he wasn't a stand-out performer in the 4-0 win, he played well but there was no "wow" factor. He does have a bit of "Stevie G" about him; good energy, athletic, good vision etc but I'd need to see him a few more times before I'd suggest he was worthy of the attention. Definitely one worth keeping tabs on though.

Thanks Pesam.

I was wondering how he compared with the likes of Rossiter, or even Chirivella, who're about the same age (Dele Alli is 18, the other two are 17). He has obviously got the advantage of having played for MK Dons' first team in League One for a while now, but that isn't necessarily always a major advantage as we've loaned out lots of players who played football at the same level or higher, but didn't end up sticking anyway.

Even if we agree to sign him we should leave him there for at least a season because it'll be much more effective than sending him off to the reserves. I've seen him live once, last year, and thought he was promising but no more than that - good positional sense, good stamina, powerful and attack-minded, usually content to keep it neat and simple. I can't say he looked to have progressed much when I saw him against the mancs, but he's an interesting player who is certainly worth keeping tabs on.
