Ha - solid level of thought in this thread.

Keep - he is a top notch midfielder and having the options of Hendo/ Allen/ Can and Coutinho in the middle will be key next year. We struggled last season having to bring Lucas in to the CM with Hendo out (arguably one of the reasons we couldn't get over the line) - imagine having to do that throughout the season?!

A decent player and adds good squad depth. Tidy with the ball, works hard, good team player and wants to fight for the shirt.

He's decent, and does an important role in the squad, and adds to the depth. We should keep him, but we should also look to improve on him. He's not as good as we all thought he'd be.

I think part of that is he fragmented experience he has had so far. I think now that we have a more settled shape, he will get a lot more games in that role we know he excels in.

He had some absolutely fantastic performances last season, he is just a player similar to Hendo who goes a bit under the radar because of the role he plays. Granted, we will need them both to start contributing more goals but that will come I think. He was quite often in the right positions last season for some good chances and hopefully with confidence more of those get converted.

I agree he goes under the radar a bit. His work rate is terrific. However, I think we were expecting a more technical player (The Welsh Xavi!) than what we've seen. That's not to say he can't do it. His first 5 games with us he looked great. He doesn't really seem that type of player any more. He's more of a ball winning midfielder who will lay it off simply to the more creative players.

He was decent in pre season I thought. I also thought he was a decent option for most of last season. He had a much better season than the one before.

Keep.

Like most of our players I'd sell him if we got the right offer and had lined up a superior replacement.

He's not really loved up to his fee, and offers nothing special. He disappointed when coming in to replace hendo last three games of last season. I see Can getting ahead of him in pecking order. That said he is a useful, albeit expensive, squad player.

According to Brodge he's worth £40M so we'd easy get our money back

I expect he'll start scoring this season too

Allen, I think, will be a decent squad player - nothing more. Someone who will do OK in the carling cup, early FA cup games and some PL games I don't see him being a main player within the midfield.

He'll play a big part, there is alot of competition, but I think he'll be integral, particularly in Europe when we want to dominate possession. I think he'll be the one who probably covers for Gerrard most, with Hendo and Can looking like the typical "Duracell bunnies" who'll just keep playing more often than not.

We've got really good strength in depth now in the middle of the park.
