All this Grujic is making me itch

Totally forgot about this lad. Klopp clearly rates him. If we do get Keita, and Grujic is to feature this season we've still got Henderson, Wijnaldum and Can fighting for midfield slots, and Countinho and Lallana can both play deeper. With Mane, Salah, Firminho, Origi, Solanke, Ings and Sturridge as forward options would that be enough? Looks pretty strong to me, if we get Keita or similar.

I still think we need a forward of note.

Id sacrifice Sturridge and Ings and why is Divock for the right player.

Anyone seen much of Dembele of the Celtic Dembele's?

Scores a bucketload and is young.

But Scotland...

Sturridge's problems are definitely partly psychological. It emerged that Bobby had been playing the last 2 months of the season with an injury (which is why he wasn't selected for Brazil in the postseason friendlies). That just has never happened with Studge, and it is something all players need to do sometimes. I wish he would ficking man up and give us a punishing season. But I don't think he ever will.

Lest we forget, back in the 60s, 70s and even 80s players regularly played when injured. Sure they can't walk now, or have two plastic knees, but we got through a season using about 13 players.

We're not gonna sign a striker though. Lets hope Sturridge gets through pre season injury free and is ready for the new season.

I want Sturridge to stay fit... but let's be honest, it's unlikely. We'd be better off if he and Origi got injured this week as we'd be forced to buy a striker.

Knowing our luck Sturridge and Firmino will get injured in September and we'll be stuck with Origi as our number 1.

What makes you think Klopp really rates him, didn't give him much of a run last season even when Henderson and Lallana were out and Milner was at left back. I had high hopes for him but if anything it seems Klopp isn't bothered.

He has some ground to cover yet, but I liked the way he was shaping up last pre-season so I still have hopes for him this time around.

No sliding knee celebration from Grujic this time. Scored a beauty and took it matter-of-factly.

Well he was absolutely a non entity when fit last season so I'm expecting fuck all but here's hoping.

As for the 2nd part, no no it would not.

None bar Coutinho, Mane and to a lesser degree Lallana enough to get excited.

We still need strengthening or we haven't addressed the issue of teams parking the bus enough.

Origi and Ings in exchange for a fucking kebab would be nice.
I'm looking forward to seeing if Ings still has something to offer. I truly hope the lad gets some level of match fitness and maybe a run of games.

What do you think we still need?

a more clinical central striker,

Another skillful wide player with pace and end product,

a dynamic CM who can give us the consistency that Henderson has lacked due to injury,

a left footed left back with an engine to get up and down the pitch who can make that position his own,

a CB that dominates in the air and isn't prone to unforced errors,

and a confident goalkeeper that we aren't just waiting on his next fumble.

With our style of play there is zero chance our current set of players can perform to the level we require twice a week in the league and Europe.

We need quality in depth and right now we don't have it anywhere on the pitch.

That's a ridiculous comment. How many players do you think we need on the pitch to address that ? Who would you drop (because Klopp won't).

If we sign Keita then we have added three more scoring options to last season (2 of whom are likely to be starters), one of whom addresses two of our major issues going forward (not getting to the byline and cutting the ball back and also of not getting enough bodies into the box). And Ings could be akin to a new signing too, especially good at poaching within the 6yd box..

Solanke also looks pretty adept at making space for himself in the box, a la Sturridge. I'm certain Klopp does not see another forward signing in our immediate future with the style/formation we play and options at our disposal.

I've got a good feeling about Grujic. If he can keep himself fit it's going to be a good year for him.

A CB & a LB - that's what we need right now.

I don't think we desperately need anyone in the centre or upfront.
