If the below story is true, and fee is accurate, we should be all over this. The kind of attacking talent we've been missing ....

Arsenal are keen on signing Russia international Alan Dzagoev, 21.
The £13m-rated CSKA Moscow midfielder is out of contract in December.
Meanwhile, Bastia have expressed an interest in defender Sebastien Squillaci, 31.

I agree in principle but Russian (cssr) players really generally struggle to adapt to our league
Rebrov, Shevchenko, Bilyetdinov, Luzhny, Arshavin and Pav (mostly), Voronin etc all pretty much floptastic.
I cant think of any GREAT successess except for Kanchelskis.

That's because they grew up during communism. The younger ones who don't remember it will be much better.

I just made that up but it gets better and better every time I read it.

This should have been Dioa/Diouf signing before the a major championship. Lot more diffucult now.

The last good player we signed after after a tournamount, was Paddy Berger

Are you seriously using those as examples?
We should sign early to get a Diouf or Diao.
If we wait we end up with a Berger!!
HOLY MOLY!

No my point is, we signed those players because we thought they were going to be good at the world cup as and there price would increase if we waited.

Of course they were shite.

This Alan chap was obviously a talent before the tournamount and we should have tried to get a deal in place earlier.

But Diouf was 'obviously' a talent.
We could easily have signed Affelay before the tournament and now everyone would be fucking moaning 'Why didnt we wait till we saw him'
Im just guessing here, but i'd imagine that our scouting amounts to more than watching the telly.

You're right of course

its watching they play well against us too

Arshavin was brilliant, he then turned shite.

Who is suggesting this?

only a matter of time until a person who has a good tournamount is wanted by all, they are a great shop window.

I bet Gomez's agent is on the phone to City already - monster bid on its way

Kinkladze - do we count him?

Berbatov hasn't really been a flop.

And while someone else is being picky, I'll seize on this window of pedantry to point out there's no apostrophe in Euros!

Is it not short for European Championship? In which case it would be correct?

Bear in mind I understand you have much greater knowledge of the English language than I, so you will correct me!

Dzagoev is Ossetic, not Russian. Born in Beslan in North Ossetia (the site of an infamous school children terrorist massacre). Ossetia is culturally closer to Chechnya, Georgia and Armenia, than to Russia or Ukraine.

Don't think so. I reckon it's actually short for "European Championship Finals" (why else would it be a plural?), in which case macca's quite right. If it *were* short for just "European Championship" it wouldn't make sense anyway, because it would then be a possessive, meaning "of the Euro", thereby begging the question: "the Euro's what?"

I'll get my anorak.

Is it east of Berlin?

Right then - he's Russian.
