Aquilani going nowhere - agent

Alberto Aquilani will not be leaving Liverpool this summer, according to the player's agent.

Aquilani has been a major disappointment for the Anfield club since his £20 million move from Roma. Injuries and uninspiring form have made it difficult for Reds fans to forget Xabi Alonso, whose departure to Real Madrid created room for the Italian's arrival.

With Liverpool suffering serious financial troubles, reports of a move back to Serie A have grown regarding Aquilani, but the player's agent, Franco Zavaglia, has suggested otherwise.

"I don't think Liverpool will dismantle the team because they are in an economic crisis," Zavaglia told Tuttomercatoweb.

"Plus, Alberto has a five-year deal there. How can people say that he will be sold?"

Aquilani has made just 15 Premier League appearances for Liverpool this season.

Question is, will the next manager still fancy him?

So you wont blame the manager for refusing to give him a *real* shot?

Either way, 15 appearances for a 20 m investment is appalling.

I don't know what to think about Aquilani. He looked brilliant in a couple of games for us, but then was 'injured' again almost straight away, and for whatever reason our current manager doesn't seem to trust him at all. A new manager might get the best out of him, or might just prefer to sell him, given his injury record and the amount of time it's likely to take him to adapt to the PL.

I'm sure he'd find a buyer in Italy, but probably not for as much as we paid for him.

I would like to see him played whenever he's fit. Then we can make a straight call on him.

It's frustrating that Rafa's seemingly "Robbie Keaned" him so soon.

The problem Aquilani had was by the time he was fit, we were in such a shit position that Rafa was afraid to gamble by putting him into the team.

Fuck knows why he isnt playing him now.

Its all very well Rafa bleating on about not having money to spend, but surely its not too much to ask that when he does spend £20m on a player, it'll be someone who he'll fucking play.

From what I heard it's also about the player wanting to play. The guy is simply not cut out for the rough and tumble of the premier leauge!

"Probably"?

We'd be lucky to get 60% of what we've paid for him.

This seems to be the crux of the problem. I personally think he was bought in to play in the hole, and think he will if Gerrard leaves/returns to CM. I think A Masher/Gerrad CM combo could work well, with a decent Left Winger and Maybe Maxi on teh right. Torres up front with Aqua behind. Sorted.

Although he played well in the recent game against Fulham he looked awful in the game I seen against Bolton earlier in the season.
Perhaps it was down to Bolton being more physical but he seemed to be intent of moving the ball on quickly, not because that was the right option but purely because he didn't fancy being tackled.
While understandable to an extent for a player coming back from a long term injury i still got the impression at the time, and think I said it, that he was chicken shit and if you have heard similar through your sources shrek, then I wouldn't be overly surprised.

this is most certainly nonsense. No pro footballer would prefer sitting on the bench.

15 games a season is his career average if I remember correctly.

And he could played a good bit more than that for us this season had he been picked

We should keep him because he's a very good footballer and that's something we're short of.

Hopefully a new manager can find a system to accomodate him, Gerrard, Yossi and Torres.

If your scared of something would you want to do it? Benitez hinted as much a few weeks ago about Aqua feigning injury. The guy does not like the physical nature of the premier leauge and is actually scared of the tackles that fly in. As count said when we play a team that likes to rough it up a bit you can see aqua trying to get rid of the ball to avoid a tackle.

There was a telling sign at the madrid game, all the subs where warming up in there boots on the touchline, but there was aqua in his trainers. He really looked like a man who had no intention of playing in madrid.

i dunno about this..

Rafa suggested that they did tests and couldnt find what the issue for his recent pain was.. Your suggesting that he fakes injuries because he doesnt want to play? big call.
Now.. if he wants to pass the ball quicker.. thats fine with me.

What i like about Aquilani is he wants to make things happen. He stroles out of position a lot but surely thats why we have a defensive midfielder? i think Rafa would have Lampard sitting on the bench because he doesnt defend enough...

Babel and Aquilani have been sitting out when others... Ngog, Zhar, Voronin and Aurellio played in their positions.. Rafa is a fucking numpty sometimes.

Rafa's been baffling again over this transfer, but he has implied that Aquilani has decided his own fitness on occasion.

There have been a lot of similar talk surrounding Kaka this season, saying he's declared himself unfit when he's been fit to join the squad.

So he kept Lucas in there instead. Nice gamble. we have only lost 20 games so far this season.

I'm not saying it's right, but given that we were shipping goals, and Rafa's first priority was to fix that, he may have been concerned by the fact that he for some reason bought a midfielder that doesn't tackle all that much.

No, not the whole year. But people are allowed to self diagnose their own health.

You dont fix that by using a midfield that slow down the game, gives away possesion and NEVER EVER plays a pass more than 5 yards.. As long as we use Lucas in midfield no opposition has to worry about defending do they? So they can keep pressure on us. Lucas will never ever dictate any game. He will not set the tempo in any game. He will never ever hit a killer pass... He will never ever turn the game around. He is just piss fucking poor!

Now I'm not saying there is any truth to these rumours, but...

When you're some peon no-one gives two shits about, you have more licence to "self diagnose". When an organization has millions upon millions invested in your success, it stands to reason that these things are going to be scrutinised a little more.

Obviously The Purple Shithouse is miles more talented than the hapless Lucarse, but all this yap about 'let's see what he can do next season' is pointless.

He's got no spine, no heart, and he's made out of biscuits

He has talent, but so what? We won't see it often enough for the above reasons.

We need to see what div will pay 10-12m for him and ship him out

As for Lucarse, I don't give a fuck, just get rid of the cunt

We need to get rid of both of them

You're basing this on what? no heart? Has he not tried every game he's played? You're normally very 'quick' to find duds but he's played well almost every GAME he's had a chance - you're just being a right ......
