Translation it says. Afellay will be joining up with kuyt in Liverpool, Liverpool havent finished in the transfer market and have inquired about the services of Afellay according to spanish media 10 million euro should capture the player, he joined Barca for 3,5 million and has found it dificult to get regular playing time and with the additions of Fabregas & Sanchez its going to be even harder for him to get into the team. Liverpool hope that Barca will accept the offer and will have earned a profit by selling him however Juventus have also enquired about the player but only on loan but liverpool look to be in a stronger position.

Liverpool is nog niet klaar op de transfermarkt en meldt zich bij FC Barcelona voor Ibrahim Afellay, schrijven Spaanse media maandag. Een overgang zou voor tien miljoen euro rond kunnen komen.

Afellay trok in de winterstop voor 3,5 miljoen euro van PSV naar Barcelona. De middenvelder kwam in zijn eerste halfjaar geregeld aan spelen toe, maar zag in de zomer Cesc Fàbregas en Alexis Sánchez worden aangetrokken. Zijn uitzicht op speeltijd is daardoor behoorlijk vertroebeld.

Liverpool hoopt van het Catalaanse overschot te profiteren. De Reds moeten afrekenen met Juventus, dat eerder al interesse toonde. De Oude Dame zou echter meer heil zien in een huurtransfer, terwijl Liverpool Afellay definitief wil overnemen.

this link at least makes sense though as afellay is no where near barca's first team and with the huge outlay of the summer they will be looking to recoup some money
 
Don't get me wrong, I fucking hope it's true, I just find it hard to trust yet another foreign article linking us with yet another Barca fringe player.
 
Just read that article properly.

I cant see us paying €10m when they paid €3.5m in January, not unless he was exceptional during that 6 months.

isn't sabremetric about getting people with problems (hence the low price) and helping them past those problems? VDV, sneijder were fringe players.

[/quote]I think though they only paid that amount because he was out of contract this summer.
From the little I have seen of him and the reputation he has I would have thought that €10m is not an excessive fee and could be a bargain price

afellay kills two birds with one stone

1. he adds creativity
with cole off we need some tricky in and around the box. yes suarez has it but that's about it.

2. he plays on the right
meaning it's a choice of henderson and afellay for right wing, meaning there is no need for kuyt to appear at right midfield again so kuyt covers the position of back up striker (if he fails to start) with ngog out the door
 
i'd be shocked if we're in for him . We've already bought 3 new mids this season and still have meireles and gerrard to potentially come back in.
I'd like him but in terms of numbers we don't need him.

But he's a winger and we are certainly not overloaded in that department.

I agree, we have one out and out winger. an injury to downing and suddenly we are very narrow again.

We were linked with him earlier in the summer and I commented that we'd have the two recent Dutch players of the year and it the cued the disparaging remarks about their football. Surarez didn't turn out so bad ad this guy is just as talented. He would have to track back for us but it frees up Kuyt for forward duties and gives us quality options. 10m is exceptional value for his quality.

I really really doubt this will happen, firstly because Affelay is already at the best club and would not be that willing and secondly because Barca will want to keep him for his potential. The fee they paid for him means nothing, his contract was up, he would be a bargain at 10m euros .... I would get excited if he signed for us .... Proper excited.
 
Is it possible for an injured player to make a move without undergoing any physical tests? He's out with hamstring injury at the moment. Guess the ideal solution is loan move with option to buy?

Yea but Barca are in debt and there's chance to make a profit on an player who isn't in their plans. Affellay hardly played last year and they bought someone else in who plays in his position, so who knows what he's thinking?

I think they will just check there are no long term concerns. Remember, we did sign Aquilani...
