A Gift of Life, a Gift of Sight

I have just watched the sad but very moving Will Smith film ' 7 pounds' and it has reminded me that I should carry my Donor Card with me wherever I go. It is something that we can easily forget. Be sure to tell your family your wishes and ensure they promise to carry them out should the situation ever arise.

Somebody may use my heart, my kidneys, liver, skin, bone marrow, pancreas, eyes to live or see again or to help them to live a more normal life that we all take for granted. Even the Pope carries a card.

What better legacy could you ever leave behind ?

You can make your own Donor Card here : http://www.galenpress.com/extras/extra4.htm

Please feel free to add additional Donor Card details and links so people can get the full details on the how, why and wherefore of donating and saving lives.

Many people who would like to donate organs fail to tell their families. Others feel it is against their religion, unaware that most religions support organ donation. Another fear is that once admitted to a hospital, if staff is aware of a donor designation, treatment will not be aggressive. In reality, the transplant/recovery team is called in only after death has occurred. One individual who donates after death can provide organs, bone and tissue for 75 or more people in need.
